3 4 || One Week

                       A  U  D  R  E  Y

Monday morning , i received an email from Lisa , Natalie's former assistant, telling me that Natalie had to fly to Italy for an urgent meeting and will be staying there for a week , which means i won't need to start working for her until next week

Which was good for me because the process of quitting from my current job is long and not simple , first step , was informing my manager , my boss , my ex boyfriend whom i tried my best to avoid him and he did the same , but if i wanted to leave , i had to face him for one last time to give him my resignation letter

This morning i arrived very early to the company , prepared myself to face him . At nine sharp , he showed up , our eyes exchanged a look before he entered his office , a dead look and a cold shoulder

i ignored whatever twist my heart felt as i followed him inside , i knocked and told me to come in , he was being very professional

" what do we have today ?" He asked as he opened his laptop , without lifting his face to look at me . Without answering , i placed my resignation letter right next to his laptop where he could see it , after three seconds , his hands paused and his eyes landed on the paper i just placed on his desk

He finally looked at me , this time , his expression was not cold , was not dead , i could not precisely describe his face at that moment , he grabbed the letter and read it in silence " you want to quit ?" His voice was low and serious , i gulped but kept my eyes on his , no backing down

I practiced so hard last night for this

" yes , i wish to be done with it before next week if possible " i clarified , he didn't answer , he just stared at me as he slowly put the paper down on his desk . After a short silence , his attention went back to his laptop , and he spoke " as you wish , talk to the HR they'll know what to do "

It was a like another person possessed him . What was i expecting? I was the one who broke up with him and ended things

I had no right to be mad or disappointed

But at least i still had manners

" thank you for everything " I said and he just hummed , it took me everything not to snap at him , the least he could do is pretend to be nice , professional not a stone heart asshole . When i turned and began walking to the door he spoke again

" and while you're at the HR department tell them i'm at need for a new assistant "

" of course "

And with that , i stormed out of his office ,  went to the bathroom , and broke down , this was harder than i thought , thankfully i had no make up in my face so my tears did not ruin anything . I washed my face and composed myself before heading to the HR

I asked them to make the process quick , because i couldn't bear to stay in this place any longer , though i still had this week , i can't believe i told Natalie i would start on Tuesday forgetting what a troublesome quitting operation is

This week was different was from the ones after he and i broke up , no more working from home and avoiding each other , he was being a professional manager , very professional

But this was fucking torture

Don't get me started on what happened on Wednesday , Halle came to the company , before she did , she called me to inform me of her arrival so i could inform Kaden , of course , as his assistant i had to do it , and they went to lunch together

I couldn't wait for the weekend

The HR employee told me i'll be free by Friday , i could throw a party just to celebrate that , and i think i would , although not a party just a drinking session with Jade to drown my sorrows and my grey miserable life that almost had its color back

The only thing that was keeping me optimistic was learning that my sister had started her treatment , i spoke with her and my mother few days ago and they said everything was perfect , which brought me back to the most unpleasant feeling , and it was being in debt to Kayden Addams

Friday afternoon , my last day in Lux , and as Kayden's assistant , i will have no reason to see him or talk to him anymore , except for one thing i still had to do before i leave

I knocked on his office door before entering , he was standing in front of the window talking to his phone , when he turned and saw me , he said more couple of words before ending the call " yes ?"

" i wanted to speak with you about something " i stated " sure " he replied as began walking to his desk , but his movements froze when i spoke again
" it's about Vivian's treatment " He looked down before lifting his head and fixing his cold gaze on me
" what about it ? "

" i wanted to thank you for your kindness and your offer to treat Vivian and everything you did for her , and also i will repay you for everything , just send me the number and I'm sure we can agree on how much i'll be paying you every month "

His expression darkened , as if he heard something he didn't like " there's no need for that " he was about to turn before i spoke again " yes there is "

He slowly walked towards me , waiting for me to finish " i don't want to be in debt to you , you have no reason to do this for me " i stated and he stared down at me with a vague face

His closeness to me began to overwhelm me so i needed to get away from him , i coughed before turning around " send me the amount of expenses and i will start repaying next month " I was about to open the door to leave but his hand slammed down on the door and shut it , making me jump , startled

" i didn't tell you to leave " he said in a low voice , close to my ear , sending shivers down to my body , his chest being close to my back did not make me feel any less uncomfortable " our conversation was done" somehow i found my voice down my throat

" it's done when i say it's done , you always get to end things however you like , but not under my office's roof  , you still work for me " He said in a rough voice , making me wish if the ground could swallow me whole

" do you always corner people who work for you like this ? " i asked , trying to forget his close muscular body to my fragile one . Finally , i found it in myself to turn around and face him , his hand was still flat on the door beside my head

" why is this hard for you to accept , just take the money i don't want your charity " i said ,  a bit angry at his arrogance " And why don't you take a hint , i don't want your fucking money " he fired back , his face leaning closer , the veins in his temple almost blowing

" then what do you want ?" I asked , my voice rose and i fought the tears in my eyes , i can't let this happen , i can't cry in front of him . He stared at me in silence , his eyes examining my face until they rested on my lips

He leaned down again , but shut his eyes , tightened his jaw and looked away , he finally walked away from me , and i could finally breath

" you can go , and don't you dare think about sending that money "

Phew , i can't believe it's been two months since i last posted , this was my longest hiatus and i apologize for it , i was busy with school and it was exams period , i'll try to make it up for you , hope yall didn't forget this story lol
