Arising Smoke

I hop out of the car rushing inside to find Embry.

'' Embry!'' I scream for her and I finally find her in the kitchen sipping a cup of chai tea. She practically jumps and the tea splatters all over the floor.

'' What! Whats the rush?'' She reachs down to pick up the splattered tea but I pull her away from it.

I grab her hand, she trips on the rug and grabs her sneakers. I continue to drag her into the car,  and she hops in the back of the car.

'' Please tell me you know where Angie is?!'' I frantically ask her.

'' No, I don't. I may have an idea of where she could be. But honestly I don't know where exactly she could be.'' Embry says to us and Nix pulls the car out of the driveway abruptly.

'' Seriously anything works. So shot with the ideas.'' I tell her.

'' Hmm.. Well, there is this guy named Joe.  Lets just say he doesn't great things.  But I know where his house is. Angie has taken me there before cau-'' Embry tries to explain to us. But I cut her off, she can explain the cause another time. She began to give us directions to his house. But it wasn't very difficult to find the house, you just had to follow the sound of bashing music. I started to have a knot in my stomach. Like crap what am I driving into? Nix could sense my stress he places his hand on my thigh rubbing his thumb back and forth I reach underneath so I can intertwine his fingers into mine. We make into the driveway. The smell of smoke arises in the air. It was a strange smell that came from the house. Kids were laying on couches in the middle of the lawn and music pounded from the stereos. I squeeze Nixxons hand really tight. I felt my chest pounding and the feeling of fright ran through me. The question was, What am I going to find in this god forsaken place?

 

'' You know what, I will just go in. These types of places can be scary.'' Embry said, I wanted to take her up on that offer but I needed to be a big girl and go find my sister.

'' No..No.. I need to do this. Let's all just go in. Okay?'' I say to both Nixxon and Em. Both nod their heads and we slowly walk in. A couple stand in the door way making out. But clearly they weren't the only couple making out. This was a like a sex club in a house. The feeling of hurling arose inside of me. Smashed wine and beer bottles laid on the floor. The sharp edges were hard to not step on cause they were everywhere. We continue to walk, then  Embry finds the so called guy named Joe.

'' Hey! This is Lyric and Nix. I have you seen Angie?'' Em asks the tall boy African American man with an afro.

'' Yo dude. Its rad to meet you. (He shakes both my hand and Nix's) Ya Angie is somewhere around here. Want a drink?'' He stumbles around trying to balance on the nearest wall.

'' No, but thanks.'' We say and walk away. Searching everywhere trying to find a blonde haired girl. I walk upstairs and here banging on the wall. I feel disgusted immediately. A toilet flushes and the door opens. There is Angie in her underwear with her tee shirt draped off her shoulder. She stumbles trying to hold herself up like Joe.

'' Angie, sweetie.'' I say and run to help stabilize her.

Nix helps her into the car and Em took the front seat so I could hold on to Angie.

We drive to the nearest burger place.

'' You hungry?'' Nix asks Angie and I give her some random blanket from the trunk, cuddling her close.

'' Hi can I have 4 chocolate milkshakes please.'' I ask the waitress in one of the old diners near our house. She smiles and walks away. I think it was odd for her to see Angie in this old raggedy blanket and all of us really close to her. But oh well. I wanted to know what happened to her.

'' Okay what the hell were you doing?'' I finally break the ice and just ask her what I was dying to know the answer too.

'' It's none of your business. Ya thanks for ''rescuing'' me or whatever. But I don't need my little sister coming to the rescue for me. I am the one who is supposed to look out for you. Not you.'' She said but soon sobbed. Tears came from her eyes. I just held her in my arms. Comforting her is all I could do. I just decided that I would let dad deal with her.

We came home and I lay her in bed. I walked back outside to Nix and Embry.

'' I am so so damn sorry for this. For pulling you guys into all of this mess. Nix I really want to talk, so maybe call or we can meet up.. Em I want to hang out with you as well. Again I am super sorry.'' I keep apologizing to both of them. I felt a sick feeling in my stomach, I just cant imagine the crap Angie got her self into today.
