Prologue

It was just another day for our speedy blue hero, Sonic The Hedgehog, running through Green Hill and enjoying his life.

It's been months since his birthday incident where he and Shadow had to save their timeline from Eggman and Black Doom, Shadow's biological father from conquering the world again.

It wasn't the birthday party he was expecting, either Shadow after he went back to Space Colony Ark to check if Black Arms were returning.

Yeah, it wasn't what they plan.

Sonic soon did his signal spin dash through the mid air. "Oh yeah!" Sonic grin against the wind hitting his face. He felt in his territory, all free and his zone.

He felt incredible and so free.

While feeling the wind against his blue quills and skin, he suddenly felt being pulled back into dark and ominous memory. Everything went through his body like electricity and his body reliving a very traumatic event of his life.

Him...dying.

"Sonic!" A familiar voice echoes through his ears, seeing the horror in the faces of his friends; Tails stunned, Knuckles trying to reach to him, and Amy screaming with tears welled up her eyes. Sonic briefly move his gaze to the one who shot him and he saw dark figure of a hedgehog.

It appeared to be Shadow, his rival but that wasn't Shadow. His body was all crystalized and giving a sinister aura around him, a dark and evil aura that shook his being to the core of fear.

"So long, Sonic The Hedgehog. I hope your friends enjoyed my gift for you."

Sonic return back to the reality where he covers himself with his arms when he noticed that he was about to crash the ground.

"OH CRAP!" Sonic's body soon hits the ground, rolling over before he hits a palm tree. Sonic groans while being upside down with his legs hanging out from his body.

Despite Sonic was unharmed and just have mild bruises, his heart was pounding against his chest and his breath speed up than usual. Sonic who's usually carefree and easygoing, was washed with fear and shock for his life.

It was no mistake who was that guy.

Mephiles The Dark.

The monster who killed him in front of his friends as gift. And the guy who tricked Silver into killing him before Shadow and Blaze intervene to save him.

No, it can be...He can't be back. He can't. He thought with cold sweat running down from his face. Mephiles was the only one who managed to kill him before others used the Chaos Emeralds and Master Emerald to bring him up with help of Blaze who had knowledge to revive him back with the Emeralds.

After all, her Sol Emeralds works different, and she knew what to do.

Of course, saving the timeline where Silver's future got robbed. It took lot for him, Shadow, and Silver to defeat him and undo one of the hardest events for Silver.

Even through it didn't stop him going back to the past to help Sonic who accidentally messed up couple of times and him still letting Eggman go.

But still, the thought of Mephiles being back, did genuinely and terrifyingly scared him.

It did scared Sonic.

"Sonic!" Sonic after he got up and brushed off the leaves, saw his best friend Tails flying towards with a worried expression. "Tails..." He murmured softly with unreadable look, Tails soon got to Sonic.
