My eyes opened slowly, the room was dark with a single candle flickering in the background.
"She's doing better, if it wasn't for the Hogwarts potions master finding the tampered pumpkin juice who knows how long it would've taken for us to figure it out," a voice whispered, "We've done our testing as well and it appears as though she has no brain damage due to the seizures that she had, or the brain bleed,"
"When will she be ready to go back to Hogwarts?" Arthur's voice whispered back.
"That all depends, right now we're just waiting for her to wake up, its been a couple of days we're hopeful that she'll wake up sometime soon," the other voice explained.
"Good, that's good," Arthur nodded.
"Arthur," I croaked out, my head was foggy, sluggish. My throat burned like no other, but a majority of the pain had left. Soon Arthur was in my line of sight, he gently grabbed my hand before kneeling next to my bed, before he pushed my hair out of my face.
"Cassidy," He whispered looking at me, almost like he couldn't believe I was actually alive. My eyes were squinting to be able to see him.
"Where am I?" I questioned him.
"Saint Mungo's," He answered with a grim smile, "You just missed Molly, we've been staying in shift, you gave us a right scare,"
"Why are you looking at me like that?" I questioned him.
"Like what?" he asked
"Like I died," I whispered back.
"Because you did die, you're a living miracle right now," He answered not beating around the bush.
"Cassidy, how are you feeling?" the other voice questioned before appearing on the other side of me, a healer.
"Like everything is in slow motion, foggy," I whispered as eyes began to flutter close once more.
"Cassidy, stay awake," the healer called out to me causing my eyes to open once more, "Do you have any pain?"
"My throat burns," I whispered, "My stomach hurts, and I have a slight headache,"
"Okay, I'll get you some stuff for that, but I need you to stay awake so we can give it to you easier," the healer whispered before heading off.
"Everything's going to be okay," Arthur whispered to me bringing my attention back to him.
"How do you know that?" I questioned.
"Because you, Cassidy Black, are a fighter, always have been, always will be," He stated leaving no question
"This year was supposed to be amazing, why can't I have one good year," I whispered as tears began to fall.
"There are dark forces at play, Cassidy. The darkness tends to hit the most ferocious of fighters first, knowing you'll be the hardest to take down. You'll have an amazing year, yes, you've hit a bump, but don't allow that bump to take you out," I gave him a nod with a small sad smile.
"Here we go Cassidy," the healer re-entered the room with a cup in hand. They both helped me sit up so I could gulp down the mixture of potions given to me before I was laid back down and covered back up with blankets.
"Get some more sleep Cassidy. I'll be here when you wake back up," Arthur whispered to me as my eyes fluttered closed once again.
It was a couple of days later that I was released. They wanted to make sure the potion was completely pumped out of my system before they sent me back off to school. I waved goodbye to all the healers who saved my life as I left. Molly and Arthur accompanied me to the fireplace where we took it by floo to Dumbledore's office.
