A few minutes later. Atop a gate. There is a platform closer to the centre. Faint fog still appears with the war shouts.

Enter WIZLAW wearing armour, a lightly armoured COURTIER & GUARD

WIZLAW: Didst thou hear that loud crash once again?

COURTIER: Aye, I did. I am telling thee they have some sort of siege equipment.

WIZLAW: They cannot. Where would they have got it from? We do not even possess it!

COURTIER: I know not!

[they overlook the area past the palisades]

GUARD: [to WIZLAW:] Is thy family safe m'lord?

WIZLAW: Yes, it is. Why dost thou... ask?

GUARD: Not even an hour ago, I-I saw a woman who looked like thy wife along with what I took to be her daughter.

WIZLAW: [he pauses] Art thou sure it was Margareta?

GUARD: I do believe so. If it was not her, gouge mine eyes and cast me blind into a pit.

[a foul and eerie ring/sound is heard]

WIZLAW: This cannot... be true.

GUARD: I swear on any deity that thou worships that I did indeed see them.

WIZLAW: [he becomes lightheaded and breathes harder] O, dear God. If Thou is truly the One, I pray thee to forgive me. I have broke thy law and denied thy words of "Thou shalt have no other gods before Me". If the gods that I worship and answer to are false, please show mercy upon me in thy judgement.

GUARD: My liege, what art thou saying?

WIZLAW: [he looks at GUARD and almost loses balance but leans on a palisade] Thou art a villainous individual.

GUARD: Why I? Wert thou not just rambling on about worshipping other false gods?

WIZLAW: Villain! [he sits leaning against the palisade]

GUARD: Villain, villain, villain. How am I th'villain?

WIZLAW: Ho! I do retract my words from thee. I feel as if some stark force is tugging mine uvula. Prithee, I do beseech thee to help me find them. I will do anything. Please, if thou finds them, I will make thee my marshal. Anything for them to be back safe!

[another crash from the catapult is heard and the stage turns black]

[Exeunt
