"Akshu, jaldi kro yr. We are getting late", said Abhi.
"Bas, 10 minutes more. My hair is a mess. They are so dry, I can't even comb them properly", said Akshara from the washroom. Abhi sighed and entered the washroom to see Akshara fighting a battle with her hair.
"Akshu, aram se yeh tumhare hi baal hai, baba", said Abhi. Akshara looked at him from the mirror and pouted. Big fat tears started running down from her eyes. Abhi instantly got alerted. Right now, Akshara is at a stage where she cries over every small thing. Yesterday, she cried because Abhi wore a white shirt. She wanted to see him in a black shirt. So, to appease her he quickly changed into the black shirt.
"Akshu, kya hua why are you crying? Kahi pain ho rha hai kya?" asked Abhi worriedly.
"We are having girls!" exclaimed Akshara and started crying loudly.
"Huh! I don't understand it, baby", said Abhi confusedly. He hugged Akshara and pats her back to calm her down.
"Yhi toh problem hai tumhari Abhi, tum kuch nhi samjhte ho. Yeh sab tumhari galti hai", shouted Akshara. She hit him on the chest.
Abhi is even more confused now. What had he done to make Akshara cry? He started racking his brains to find the answer but he came with none.
"Akshu baby, come sit here", said Abhi. He closed the toilet lid and put so many tissue papers on it to make Akshara sit on it. He then brought wet wipes and cleaned her face.
"Acha, now tell me what happened. Why are you crying? Start from the very beginning", said Abhi.
"Abhi we are having girls!" exclaimed Akshara.
Abhi is confused but he didn't show it to her. "How did you come to that conclusion?" asked Abhi.
"Look, at my hair! They are so dry. They have never been this dry in my whole life", said Akshara loudly and showed her hair to him. Abhi touched her hair but they didn't feel dry to him at all. They are soft and smooth just like always.
"Akshu, tumhare dry balo se hume betiyaan hongi uska kya connection hai", asked Abhi.
"Abhi, tum kaise doctor ho. Tumhe itna bhi nhi pta ki jab expectant mothers ke baal dry ho jate hai toh unhe girl child hote hai. Humey twins hone wale hai toh we are having two girls now", said Akshara. He got up and started combing her hair. He loves her hair.
"Akshu, agar humey girls huyi toh usme kya problem hai. It doesn't matter whether we are having girls or boys. They are our babies and we will love them all the same", said Abhi.
"But Abhi I don't want girls. They always fight with each other. They always get jealous of each other. I want boys. They are so unproblematic. They never fight with each other and always support each other", said Akshara.
Abhi stopped combing her hair. He sat down on his knees and put Akshara's face in his palms. He now understands why Akshara don't want girls.
"Akshu, humare bache Arohi ya Akshare nhi honge na hi woh Neil aur Abhimanyu honge. They will be different then us. Siblings sath rahenge ya aapas mai ladenge iska unke girls ya boys hone se koi lena dena nhi hai", said Abhi.
Akshara looked at him in awe. How did he understand her so easily? She didn't tell him properly still he knows about her fears.
"Akshu, tumhare aur Arohi ka bond isiliye develop nhi hua because your family didn't try to create a bond between the two of you. They always choose an easy way out. Since you are elder and more responsible one, they always used you to appease Arohi. Tumhe dur bhejna, ya tumhe bade hote ke nate samjhana is easier for them", said Abhi. Akshu had tears in her eyes listening this. She remembered how she suffered for those years without her family.
"Abhi, kya kabhi tumhari aur Neil ki ladai nhi hui hai", asked Akshu. She always wanted to know this.
"Huyi hai, in fact, bachpan mai toh hum bahut ladte the. Toys ke liye, maa ke sath sone ke liye aur bhi bhaut se cheezon ke liye hum ladte the. Pr tumhe pta hai maa ne kabhi sirf mujhe nhi danta because I am the elder one. Hum dono ko equal dant padti thi. Arey, kitni baar toh aisa hota tha ki maa hum dono mai se kisi ko nhi daant ti thi. Woh bas chup chaap kamre mai chali jati thi. She used to be so sad and cry a lot when we fought. We feel so bad. Hum dono hi kabhi maa ko sad nhi dekhna chahte the. Who humesha kehti thi, ki mere pass toh sirf tum dono hi ho agar tum dono hi aapas mai ladoge toh mera kya hoga", said Abhi.
"Pta hai Akshu, mai aur Neil khud ek doosre se baat krke apni ladai solve kr lete the. Bahut baar toh maa ko pta hi nhi chalta tha ki we fought with each other", said Abhi remembering those days.
"Wow, yeh kitna acha hai. Kaash mai bhi maa jaisi hi mother banoo apne bachon ke liye", said Akshara.
"Akshu aaj tumne yeh baat bol di aaj ke baad mat bolna. I love my mother. She is the best mother in the world for us. But she also had some flaws which I had overlooked because I loved her dearly. Tum jaisi ho bas waisi rehna, dekhna humare bachein tumse bahut pyar karenge. You will be a great mother", said Abhi.
"You think so", asked Akshara sceptically.
"I know so. Now, enough of this crying. We are getting late", said Abhi. He took the comb and started combing her hair. He is doing it with so much concentration and precision. Not even once he pulled Akshara's hair. It went so smoothly. Akshara is in awe of this man. She is so lucky to have him.
"Done, ab dekho kaise lag rhe hai", asked Abhi. Akshara looked at the mirror and saw a beautiful hairdo. Her husband is a genius. She stood on her tippy toes and give him a peck on the lips as a reward for doing her hair.
"It's beautiful. Thank you so much", said Akshara.
"Agar mujhe har baar tumhare baal banana ka yeh prize milega toh I will do it every day", said Abhi cheekily. Akshara hit him on the chest. Abhi laughed loudly and hugged her.
"Ab chale, waise bhi hume bahut der ho gyi hai", said Abhi. Today Akshara has completed her first trimester so they are going to the hospital for check-up. Today they will see and hear their babies' heartbeats too. Last time, the machine was not working properly so they cannot hear the babies' heartbeats. But this time they will. They are so excited for this.
"Abhi, I think we can have one girl and one boy. You will be a wonderful girl dad", said Akshara.
"Thank you for your trust, Akshu. But whatever we would have I will be happy because I have you for support", said Abhi.
"Yes, you are right. Whatever we have would good as long as they are healthy", said Akshara.
"Yes, absolutely", said Abhi. He held Akshara's hand and both of then went to the hospital to know about their babies.
