He couldn't take it. Sonic the Hedgehog couldn't take it. He couldn't take being alone anymore than he already was and started to run around the track. He got upset and accidentally caused a giant blue explosion that covered the entire town.
After he noticed what he had done, he whimpered nervously. "Uh.. surely no one noticed that giant blue explosion, right?" asked Sonic to no one in particular. "What am I, kidding? Of course they noticed! Fuck..." he realized as Sonic blitzed off.

If no one else noticed it, a certain red echidna surely did. The chaos energy raging inside, along with some negative chaos energy as if the cause was experiencing some negative feelings.
Knuckles the Echidna growled as he looked up into the sky, as the town of Green Hills went dark, experiencing a power outage. The chaos energy was like his own. But, again, negative. All the echidna knows is that this was going to be a hell of an adventure.
