Chapter 9

Kelly has saved us.
She must've gotten far enough to call the police, and if she didn't ask for help, they must've heard her screaming, or her death or some banging. So the call could've ended when she died, and the police can track the calls, but it takes time.
"I wanna hear it," Donald says.
"I don't think that's....." Felix tries to explain.
"I wanna hear it!"
I can't argue, so I play the call.

"Help! Help! Help us! Help us! He's gonna kill me..... The Lamb......" I hear a crash like something in the background dropped and smashed. But then there's the music. Perfect Day by Lou Reed the same song in the neighbouring home. Kelly screams at the top of her lungs and heavily gasps. "They've killed them too. Eric...." Eric is the name of the neighbor, and just as that last name is being said, there's a scream and a smash. She whispered the last sentence and you can hear the fear. Then I hear some ruffle, and there's nothing said, but then there's Kelly's high pitched, earsplitting scream, and it's so loud, it's like she's still alive but in terror. Then there's a gory rumpture that sounds like the axe lodging into her head.

The call ends.
The assasins haven't just killed most of the family, but the neighbors as well. It's horrid. They've killed at least 5 people.
"I'm so sorry," I tell Donald.
"It's okay, I'm gonna protect my family."
"I'll go find your Dad," I say.

Upstairs nerves me deeply. I'm scared for this family. But I'm going to protect them. Christian is either dead or alive. Max is either dead or alive. But the though terrifyes me. After looking at Donald's reaction to Kelly's defeat, I keep on thinking, that I could be in his position soon if Christian doesn't get back.
The tenderizer is in my hands, ready to attack. As I slowly go along the hallway, I think about it. Tiger Mask is dead, there's Lamb Mask, Fox Mask, but his appearance has been the most absent if you exclude the fact that he chilled Kelly. Rabbit Mask has made one appearance. I still remember the tall ears on the mask. And her long hair swaying as she swings her axe. There was 4, but now there's 3, however there could be 1 more, or Christian has narrowed the numbers down.

Then I hear a noise, and it's certainly upstairs where I am. There's something that falls and breaks. I am approaching. The tenderiser is ready and I put a screwdriver in my back pocket. I'm ready. But then there's an unusual tension, a sort of creak behind me, and then I turn, and see. It is a new enemy.
