It has been several months since Iruma ran away from school suddenly, which dragged his friends and teachers into confusion and agony. Without uttering a single word of goodbye or even an explanation, he had simply disappeared into thin air.

Every inquiry as to where Iruma has gone, repeated to his grandfather, Sullivan, always manages to get the same vagueness: Iruma is back in his birthplace. There is no closure, and their minds are riddled with beliefs over why Iruma would leave them so suddenly without ever saying a word.

Although the immediate confusion remains, the misfit class finally decides to pay a visit to Iruma's homeland. It is conceptualized from strong wishful thinking and a request to know the purpose of his leaving.

Because Sullivan did not want to give out Iruma's hiding place and at the same time wanted to remain unsequestered, the impossible position placed him in made further advance impossible.

The misfit class could only go forward with their pursuit up to a point. At a later stage, they concluded that Iruma's parents might have after all wanted privacy and decided to accept Sullivan's account unwillingly.

Only Kalego remains unconvinced and concerned about the disappearance of Iruma among the staff. A nagging feeling in Kalego's gut tells him that something is just not right. He knows Iruma well enough to be certain that Iruma would never have gone without saying a proper farewell.

Kalego is driven by self-doubt and investigates this matter, but every lead he follows ends up going nowhere, frustrating him and leading him to be all the more determined. Finally, Kalego addresses the issue to Sullivan directly.

He straightaway loses hope, however, that Sullivan would not tell him what he wants to hear when Sullivan admits it's true that Iruma was sent back to the human world. He reveals Iruma's true origin and the facts about the latter's return, adding that Demon Border

Control found Iruma's human nature. He is angry and confused; this is a revelation of a betrayal, as it had to be kept in the dark from Kalego that Iruma was not 'one of them' and that he was coming back. Kalego reflects upon how he treated Iruma in the past and realizes how that probably merited him not being included in said secret.

His self-imposed redemption put the boy to task, to rectify his mistakes, to drawing up a plan to set things right and bring Iruma back to the netherworld. Together with Sullivan, Opera, and Balam, they set into place their plan, actionably known as operation. The four are going to make use of a spell known as Isekai to travel through an alternative route to the human world.

He remembers that the missing Demon King used this spell. It took them a week of trial and error to perfect it. Kalego, needing to take urgent action, uses the spell to enter the human world. The critical blunder now is that they don't have any information about Iruma's location.

Kalego starts his search without any clue as to where to begin, having only two usages of the spell left. His incomplete knowledge of the human world does not make things easier. Without much hope, five years pass, and then one day Kalego spots a blue-haired and antennaed figure that looks so much like Iruma.

As he gets closer, he confirms it is indeed Iruma...but

Iruma's demeanor and lack of recognition of Kalego's past hint that his memories might have been tampered with, or worse, deleted altogether. This just adds a layer of complexity to Kalego's mission.

Not only should he bring Iruma back, but he also needs to find out the reason for his memory loss and how to get Iruma safely back to the Netherworld without any further catastrophe.
