I woke up.

My feet were intact. My hands were intact. My entire body was functioning properly.

Yes, I was alive.

I was alive even after suffering that ordeal.

Water hot as lava was kissing my cheeks as it fell down.

-Why did she betray me?

The answer to that question is something that I will never get for the time being.

But I was glad. I was alive.

Looking above, the ceiling seemed kind of dark. Not just the ceiling, but my entire surroundings feel that way.

I thought that I was still free falling but the ground beneath me proved otherwise.

Even after I fell from that height, I was alive.

But where is this? I can't discern anything in this darkness.

From left to right. From up to down.

When my sight started to fail me, my other senses kind of did it's job.

I can feel the moisture in the ground almost as if I was lying there naked. I can hear the cracking noise of burning wood near me. I can smell the fried meat as it wafted through the air.

Wait?! Fried meat?!!

I immediately stood up from the ground without even trying to sit properly. A sharp noise reverberated through my ear making me stand still. But I couldn't let it bother me.

I looked around and I saw it.

A group of people sitting under a fire. One was poking at it regularly which made a shrill noise.

Marking it as my destination, I walked towards them.

The ground beneath my feet felt cold and the soil was smooth as sand making no sound whatsoever.

My stomach was grumbling and my mouth was watering.

Sensing my presence in the shadows one among them looked at me.

"Oh, you up, young lad." He said sharpening his knife.

The other two who were sitting facing the direction of the fire looked behind to see that sudden intruder. But like the first one, they didn't seem surprised either.

They both stood up from their seats and greeted me.

They were like two mountains soaring high in the air. I had to raise my head up just to see their visage.

Their long beard and braided hair along with their incredible physique reminded me of Vikings that I read about in books.

One among them rubbed his proud beard.

"What are you standing there for?", His coarse voice reverberated.

While the other accompanied him by saying, "Come on join us."

The warm welcome of this trio was pleasant to hear but harder to believe. As such I put up my guard.

That's when I noticed something unusual.

It was not about them but about me.

Because all this time I was standing there, talking to them, completely naked.

Shame started to creep into my veins and I tried to cover my body with the little cover that my hands could give.

But those three stood there. Their enormous figure reflected in the shadows.
