The sky lights up, the vast void bursting open like a show of fireworks. The moon flickers out, and from it, something watches the lands below. Surveying them with careful curiosity; it knows exactly what it wants and it has found it. Its eye closes and the moon flashes, then a shower of red explodes from its rock and plummets downwards to the empires. Not a single thing escapes from its touch.
At the same time, GeminiTay wakes up from a terrible nightmare. Sitting up in her bed, cold sweat beads her head as she struggles to find the air for her lungs. Although she can't quite seem to remember what exactly occurred in her nightmare, her hands still shake violently. Gandalf meows at her, then stretches fondly and snuggles his head into her side. Grateful for her furry companion, she strokes his fur, then pushes her covers away and slides out of bed.
An eerie feeling that falls just softly into the pit of her stomach makes her freeze. There is a quiet. Something so unpenetrated and absolute that it's unsettling. Her breathing increases as her gaze falls on her window, the red lights shimmer beneath her curtains.
Gem's eyes narrow and the curtains burst open, bathing her in the light. Instantly she feels sick. As if her gut is on a roller coaster and is being flung upside down and around over and over again. Her legs go jelly-like and she almost falls over. Gem reaches out for the wall and bumps into her dresser, a flower pot falls to the ground and shatters. The explosion of sound echoes in her head a thousand times and her hands fly to her ears. This time she really does fall to her knees and she swings her arms out in front of her and pulses. The curtains shut as the red dies out and is replaced by the usual moonlight.
