VISIONER

Visioner watched the new dragons land at the entrance.

"That's a lot of dragons coming!" Tide commented. "I heard we're getting new teachers, too."

"I hope they're nice," Visioner murmured. He remembered when Jasmin, their self-defense teacher, had first come. She'd been severely injured after just months of teaching, and even after a few weeks, she was still recovering in the healing center. He'd heard that she was getting better, but he had been too busy to visit.

"I heard the new teachers were from the old Jade Winglet," Tide whispered to him. "They saved the world from Darkstalker."

Visioner shuddered; he'd heard about the evil NightWing who had planned to take over the entire continent.

"There's the hybrid replacing Peacemaker." The SeaWing nodded to a grouchy-looking dragonet. She had dark green scales and the lithe build of a RainWing, but she had fins and gills with the glowing patterns covering a SeaWing.

"And the NightWing replacing Brightness." Visioner looked at the nervous NightWing dragonet, who had a dark-blue sort of hue, and had big silver teardrop-like scales by her stormcloud-gray eyes. He felt the same twinge of anxiety and grief that he'd felt when the news of both dragonets had reached him.

I hope Brightness is safe, He thought.

"Hey, I saw you before!" Visioner jumped as a loud voice came from right besides his ear. He turned, terrified, and found himself looking at an older SandWing with darker scales freckling his snout, where a jagged scar split through. A single amber earring glinted on his ear.

"Oh, sorry." The SandWing grinned at him, and Visioner felt split between wanting to learn more about this dragon and wanting to run away as fast as possible. "You're Visioner, right? I'm Qibli. Wow, I forgot how amazing this place was."

"Hey, I know you too!" Tide beamed up at Qibli. "You're one of the dragons who stopped Darkstalker, right?"

"Oh, wow, I'm famous here." Qibli grinned again and called over his shoulder, "You heard that, Winter? And no one seems to recognize you!"

"Whatever," An ice-blue IceWing snorted, glaring at the SandWing. "It's almost like I care."
