The Fiery Princess

<[Her past 6: An Adult too soon..]>

After a while of digging around their room, Kaya had found several of her parents' stuff like papers, their family's album photo, cash, and books about a little of everything.

But Kaya had took only one book to her room as she read it before sleeping, her mother's cooking book.

When she had found her parents' cash, Kaya thought they had enough for more than several weeks once they won't have any food left. So to prepare, she decided to learn how to cook.

The next morning, she tried to make an omelette, the easiest dish she could make for the moment. And surprisingly, it was delicious ! Nya really enjoyed it as Kaya was happy that her first time cooking was a success.

Several days passed and Kaya kept taking care off Nya, and learn new meals. They were some that she failed but she was still training herself to get better as Nya was helping her by eating them and saying her opinion.

But Kaya saw that they were soon running out of ingredients. So she decided to go shopping the next day.

The next morning, she was putting on her shoes before getting up but then she saw a certain little girl in front of her crossing her arms.

"Where are you going ?"

"Oh, hi Nya. I'm just going to get some ingredients at the village, don't worry." She answered getting up.

"Can i come ? Please ??"Nya asked as she was doing the puppy dog eyes and Kaya hesitated before sighing. She couldn't leave her all alone afterall.

"Go put your shoes on." She said and Nya rushed smiling widely and giggling.

Once they arrived at the village, Kaya lead her and Nya towards the shops their parents usually went.

After they bought everything they needed, Kaya and Nya were walking back home hand in hand as Nya was eating happily a lollipop Kaya had bought for her.

While Nya was happily eating her candy while walking, Kaya was strangely quiet, really quiet.

She was quiet because of all the looks the villagers were throwing at them both..

Afterall, it is been a while since Ray and Maya went missing..

And it seemed rumors about it had reached all the villagers' ears.

'Are they the abandonned kids from the rumor ?'

'What rumor ?'

'Apparently their parents went missing weeks ago.'

'So they really live all alone ?'

'Poor kids, who watch over them ?'

'I don't know and I don't care.'

'I'm sure the rumor is just false anyway.'

'They just invented it to get all the attention on them. Kids are like that, always craving for attention.'

'Look at them, their parents went missing and they dare to go out smiling and laughing ? Don't they care at all ??'

Kaya chuckled as she saw some villagers turn immediatly their head around once she spotted them whispering to eachother while looking at both Nya and her. Funny to know that they have the audacity to whisper behind their backs, probably with pity, instead of coming to talk to them face to face.

The only thing that was worrying Kaya was the possiblity of Nya hearing them.
Slowly, Kaya lowered her head on the side to look at Nya seeing the little girl just eat her candy happily. That made Kaya smile.
