The night lingered, casting shadows of uncertainty as if it would never yield to dawn. Branden remained curled in confusion when, with the first light of day, the once blood-drenched werewolf, Antonio, returned to his human form. Covered head to toe in crimson, Antonio approached Branden, extending a hand with a broad grin.
"Morning, my friend. Name's Antonio," he declared. As Enzo, the vampire, joined them, giving Antonio a disapproving glance, he introduced himself as well. The trio then noticed Branden's unusually pale skin while Antonio, Max, and Enzo possessed sun-kissed tan complexions.
Curiosity led Enzo to inquire, "May I know what race you originate from, young man?" Branden initially sulked at being called "young," but the realisation struck that Max had asked the same question before. He replied hesitantly, "I'm, well... human???" The men exchanged puzzled glances, prompting Max to suggest, "What special traits do you have? We can figure it out from there."
Branden, feeling awkward, confessed, "Well, I just always look like this." The revelation left the trio bewildered. Max delved deeper, asking, "How do you reproduce?" Branden, now flushed, explained, leaving the others shocked. Antonio sought clarification, "Wait, so you can only reproduce with the opposite sex?" Branden, flustered, affirmed the statement.
The conversation continued, exploring the differences between humans and other races. They pondered why the human race had never been heard of, and Branden wondered why he remained ignorant of the other 17 races beyond his own.
As lunchtime approached, Enzo set out to hunt. Upon his return with a deer, Branden anticipated a cooked meal, only to realise the absence of cooking utensils. It dawned on him they would consume the food raw. The peculiarities of their respective races laid bare, the newfound companions grappled with the realisation that their world was far more diverse and intricate than they had ever imagined.
