Until I Found You

Chapter 5: Frat Party

Asami was heading to class one day when she heard someone call her name and she turned to see Korra jogging towards her.

"Hey I was hoping to catch you" Korra said smiling warmly before walking with her. Asami's heart skipped a beat. "You know you can always text me" Asami teased. Korra blushed and started rubbing the back of her neck. "Yeah but I wanted to tell you in person. I dunno...Are you going to that frat party this weekend? Korra asked shoving her hands in her pockets.

"I was gonna pass this time. Opal and Bolin are going, but sometimes I get tired of being the third wheel ya know?"
"You should come with me!" Korra practically blurted out. Asami's eyes went wide and her breath hitched. Did she just ask me out? Then she realized Korra was staring at her waiting for an answer. "Yeah I'd love to go with you". Korra gave her that lopsided grin but it quickly faded.

"So what I wanted to tell you in person was I'm going to be MIA for a few days. Some family stuff I have to deal with. I just wasn't sure if you'd worry if I just disappeared." Korra was looking at her shoes now. Asami bumped her shoulder against Korras. "I would have been worried" she said smiling and Korra finally looked up at her. Her smile was back "Well I better get going, I've got practice. But I'll see you Friday." She gave Asami a quick hug before turning around and jogging in the direction of the field.

The next morning Asami met Opal and Bolin in the dining hall for breakfast. "So have you decided if you're going to the frat party yet? Opal asked before taking a sip of her coffee.

"Yeah, Korra actually asked me to go with her."  Bolin and Opal shot each other a look. "What?" Asami asked looking between them. Bolin shoved a huge spoonful of cereal into his mouth to avoid talking so Asami focused on Opal. "What it is?"

Opal looked at Bolin again then sighed. "We are just surprised she's going out right after coming back." Then Bolin finally joined in "it's not my place to tell you what happened. But when she gets back she's going to be in a really bad headspace and normally she keeps to herself for a few weeks after."

"I feel like it's a good sign though" Opal cut in and Bolin agreed. "I'll keep an eye on her though."Bolin gave Asami a reassuring smile.

The next couple days went by quickly. But Asami noticed how much she had started looking for Korra during certain parts of her day. Finally it was Friday afternoon and Asami still hadn't heard from her so she decided to shoot her a text.

Asami: [4:15pm]
Hey, hope you're doing okay. Just wanted to make sure we were still on for the party. It's okay if you're not up for it. Lemme know.

Korra: [4:18pm]
I'm okay. And yeah we are still on for the party. I was going to just meet you there. Hope that's okay.

Asami: [4:19pm]
Sounds good. See you tonight!

When they made it into the house Asami immediately started scanning the room for Korra. Eventually finding her towards the back of the living room doing shots with some of her fellow teammates. Bolin led them over. "Hey there you are!" He shouted over the noise and pulling Korra into a hug. "You guys made it!" She laughed hugging back before seeing Asami.

She broke away from Bolin and pulled Asami into a hug. "You look amazing." Korra whispered in her ear before stepping back and Asami flushed red. She had decided on a black halter top that tied around the neck and a pair of low-rise jeans allowing her to show off just enough skin on her stomach. Korra was wearing a black fitted t-shirt tucked into a pair of black jeans. "You look really good too" she said blushing more.

Korra leaned back in close enough for Asami to feel warmth tickling her ear. "Do you want a beer?" Asami could only nod as butterflies overwhelmed her stomach before Korra and Bolin excused themselves to grab everyone drinks.
