Part Twelve
The Nightmare
Mathias Stoltenberg
There was blood on my hands.
I found myself on the boat again. It was whaling season again. Captain was barking orders, and we were all following them. I threw my harpoon towards the direction of a killer whale. The killer whale screamed in pain when my harpoon pierced its tail fin.
"Great catch lad!" The captain praised me by patting me on the back. I wanted to stop but my hands kept on pulling.
"Stop!" I mentally screamed at myself.
I couldn't stop pulling the poor creature onto the boat. My other crewmates saw my catch and decided to help me pull the creature onboard.
"Stop it please!" I wailed out.
I couldn't stop myself even though I tried. My body was moving on its own. The killer whale was already on the boat. It was struggling to breathe and it was moving and shaking around the boat. The crew and I rushed towards the creature to tie it into place.
"She's a feisty one, eh?" The captain said as he walked towards us who were busy holding down the killer whale.
Captain pulled out his loaded gun and cocked it.
The loud gunshot echoed throughout the area.
"You can never escape this life, lad. The blood of those innocent creatures is stained on your sinful hands," Captain Jonah said with a grim voice.
Then blood started to appear on my hands once again, even more than before. I tried wiping it off but then I realized that my whole body was soaked in blood.
I was surrounded by the rotting carcasses of various sea creatures. Whales, dolphins, sharks, you name it, it was there.
The foul stench of their rotting carcasses filled my nose.
"Look at your marvelous work of art, lad! You did this. You enjoyed doing this!" Captain Jonah exclaimed before letting out an evil laugh.
Please someone save me from this nightmare.
My body jolted awake from the nightmare that I had.
Alfina was still sleeping soundly beside me. I gave her a warm smile as I gently caressed her cheek with my right hand.
I miss calling her Evy. Although I am happy that she regained her memories, I am at the same time lonely.
If she finishes her revenge, what would happen to us?
Would she go back to her home country and everything would go back to the way it was before?
Would she still remember me and the nights that we shared together?
"Matt" her sweet voice called out to me.
I looked at her, she was still half-asleep. The way her jet-black hair fell gracefully on her shoulders make her look and fell like she was a goddess. The way the moonlight was illuminating the room made her beauty even more ethereal.
"Are you alright? You look like you've seen a ghost." Alfina pointed out. "I'm fine. I just had a nightmare, min kjærlighet (my love)," I answered her.
I could see Alfina's cheeks turn red when I told her that sweet endearment that I called her.
"Matt, what are we?" She suddenly asked which caught me off guard.
"We're happy," I answered without thought.
Shit. That was a very dumb thing to say.
Alfina's face showed a neutral expression which made me wonder.
Is she actually harboring some feelings for me?
"Good then. I am happy. I am happy that you're helping me with my revenge. When all of this is over then I assure you that I would be out of your life for good." Alfina coldly said.
My eyes widened in surprise with what Alfina said.
You blew it buddy.
"I see..." I muttered.
"Good night." Alfina said before going back to sleep.

"You did what?!" Theodoro Austad exclaimed.
"Min venn that was so fucking stupid of you to say that. That was your fucking chance to confess your true feelings to her!" Theo exclaimed.
"Woah buddy chill. Can you calm down? It was me who fucked up, not you," I sarcastically reminded him.
"That is the problem. You are crazy! You had like the perfect moment and you blew it! Did she really say that once this is over, she will be out of your life for good?" Theo exclaimed.
"Are you the one who got rejected? Because from what I heard from the tabloids, you and Francine are back on again," I pointed out.
"Where the hell did you find out about that?" Theo asked. "That woman and I have no more chance of rekindling what we used to have. The woman is clearly in love with someone else!" Theo added.
"You sound so defensive." I piped up. "Why is this suddenly about me? This should be about you! You now have a chance to repay that wretched Captain Jonah your debt! Don't you dare destroy this chance," Theo threatened.
"I don't want to use Alfina's money. I just want to help her get her life back on track." I admitted. "Spoken like a saint, good deeds won't get you anywhere. You know that damn well," Theo said with a dark tone.
"Alfina still plans to repay you for everything you have done for her. Her kindness may mean nothing for you but for her it could be a way of getting your attention of some sort," Theo pointed out.
There was a brief silence between the two friends until Theo decided to speak up.
"Have you two slept together?" Theo asked without any shame.
"Santa mierda! What has possessed you into thinking of that?" Matt was shocked with what his friend asked him.
"Yeah you definitely slept with her. I know it based from your reaction, min venn. You're even using Spanish expressions," Theo chuckled.
Matt massaged the temples of his forehead; he was trying his best to not strangle his friend.
"Remind me why should I not kill you now?" Matt asked in a sarcastic tone.
"Because I am the top doctor here in Norway and killing me would probably land you in jail," Theo jokingly answered.
"I am so tempted to kill you right now," Matt said.
"You didn't even deny that you two slept together," Theo pointed out.
"It was definitely a mistake coming here and venting out my frustrations," Matt defeatedly said.
"You're just sexually frustrated." Theo teased.
"I am going to kill you,"
