Part Sixteen

The Party

Mathias Stoltenberg

Socializing in parties has now been a normal part of my life. Surprisingly, I adjusted well to the kind of life that Alfina was used to.

I was in a party with Claude Hege in the beautiful Amalfi coast. This time it was a fundraising event for oil spills on bodies of water.

I was able to converse with the man.

I found out that he was an owner of a shipping business that he is currently looking for partners and shareholders.

"I'll pitch in one billion euros as long as I get to own sixty percent of the shares in the company," I piped up towards the group of gentlemen.

Everyone was surprised with my proposal, they excused themselves and gave me and Claude privacy.

"Thank you so much! I couldn't thank you well enough sir?" Claude asked my name.

"Mathias, my name is Mathias Stoltenberg. You can call me Matt. I decided that it was time to expand my company or merge it with others. I plan on retiring soon," I admitted.

Claude was surprised with what I said.

"But you're so young!" he exclaimed.

"I know, I don't want to waste away my youth. I would be happy living by the beach or in a small ranch. Besides, I would still be having passive income without doing anything. I still have a seat on your board of directors in your company since I'm going to be a major shareholder," I explained.

"I know you're going to need me; you have a child on the way," I said.

"Yes, she is at five months. She's a bit difficult but I know that it's the hormones doing the talking most of the time," Claude pointed out.

This man hasn't realized that he's fallen into my trap.

"I'll have my lawyers create a contract for you. I'll make them send it to you tonight. I was hoping that we can make this quick, I want to fulfill my dream of being a vegetable farmer," I stated.

Alfina and Francine were smart for targeting Claude's business. I never really expected that they would go this hard on the plan.

Alfina knew that Claude was looking for partners and shareholders. Francine put in all her money and resources to make my non-existent business seem legal. The lawyer who was working with us was also smart and cunning despite his age. He even chipped in with the business.

They bought a dying company and revived it under a short time. Alfina gave me lessons about how to run a business while Danielle taught me a lot when it comes to socializing with people and how to seal important deals. I made sure that I would repay them with the money that they let me have.

Surprisingly in a span of three months, the pretend company flourished and I became a huge asset when it comes to environmentally friendly products. There is no way to do a sustainable fishing farm, but I made sure that it became possible by lessening the pollution and carbon emissions in the business.

Alfina supported me through everything. Even her other friends were surprised that I was able to create a business that was thriving.

I didn't need Bettina and Joan's help to be invited in events anymore, people were actually inviting me.

It has been seven months since the accident but my feelings for Alfina have only grown only stronger.

"I'll have to go now, I'll deal with the papers. You're attending the party at Milan, right?" I asked.

"Yes, Signore Bellini sent me an invitation. I just sent my confirmation yesterday," Claude shared and shook my hand firmly.

I received the signed contract in the mail. I could tell that he didn't read it all, he signed everything.

I decided to enjoy the rest of the day to myself in my small cozy home. I may have the money now but I still enjoy living like this.

Since Alfina and Francine are in Spain, I decided to call them regarding the updates with Allegra Guerrero, Alfina's mother.

Alfina told me everything which made me surprised. She was brave for doing that. I can never do that. It really is agony to wait. I can't wait for her to come home tonight.

Alfina Guerrero

I've been feeling sick for a few days. I got back to Norway earlier than expected, I decided to visit Theo who was working in the hospital.

I've told him about my symptoms and how I've been feeling. Theo made me take a pregnancy test and he drew blood from me to run some tests.

"Nausea, headaches, morning sickness, and tenderness. Both your blood test and pregnancy test came back positive. Congratulations, you're two months pregnant," Theo said.

"Impossible," I said.

"You've been sleeping with Matt, right?" Theo asked.

"Yes," I admitted.

"Are you going to tell him?" Theo asked.

"I don't know. He's got a lot on his plate already," I admitted.

"It's still his child. He deserves to know," Theo urged.

"I'll tell him but not now. I'm close into getting my revenge, I just need a bit of time," I said.

"This revenge of yours is taking a huge toll on your health. You should stop this and take care of yourself. Do it for your baby. I know you might think that Matt doesn't care about you but I assure you he will be happy with the news," Theo assured.

"Promise me you won't tell anyone, especially Danielle. That woman can't hold a secret," I requested.

"I won't. It's not my story to tell. But I want you to take these. These are vitamin medicines that would help you with. Unless you want an abortion, I can refer you to some clinics," Theo said.

"I'm keeping the baby. Even if Matt wants it or not, I'm keeping them. Thank you for the vitamins. Please don't tell this to anyone," I pleaded again.

Theo nodded.

I also nodded before leaving his room.

There is a small life growing inside me.

This changes everything in my world. Little one, this revenge is now for you.
