Elmery's POV

I hate him.

Ya, I pretty sure you figured that out after what I said to Arlen. But I'm proud of myself, I didn't bark at him too much, and I didn't burst into tears. How great is that?

I shut the door behind me, we still have to wait for the results. And that's at 6:00 p.m., I checked my clock,  5:00. There is time!

I ran in the hallways of the school, trying to find the judges room. They still have to announce and finalize the results. Finally I found a room with the name 'Authorized Personal Only' and barged in. "Please knock the next time you decide to barge in," One of the the judges says sternly, I stepped back, "Sorry...but I wanted to talk about my performance."

"You are Elmery George?"

"Correct."

"I expected more from you," she said, "I was the judge every year and I've always loved listening to your once cute now beautiful voice, when I heard it right now I thought I might just have to go and suicide because that did not sound like you at all!" she chuckled.

Suicide....

I flinched at the word, I remembered my mother's words, "Don't make me disappointed Elmery," she said, "don't be like your brother. Don't be worthless like him, but looking at your grades, I think you might be just like him though.." she taunted.

"N-no I won't.."

"What was that?" One of the judges asked.

"Oh! I was just thinking about something....Anyways can I please sing the song for you? I was being at played during the performance, someone messed with the mics, speakers and my keyboard," I explained.

"Do you know who did it?"

"No," was my immediate response, why didn't I tell on him? I'm surprising myself more and more today. He deserves to be told on, but why? Why am I not doing it?

I started singing, and if saying the judges were impressed would be an under statement. They were mesmerized by my singing, I tried to stop myself from laughing, but in the end I did. They were literally swaying to the music like grass flowing in the wind.

"I...loved it," the judge said, "It's even better then it was before!" she chuckled. "Sadly though I have to give you second place."

"What?! Why?" I asked bewildered.

"Because of the inconvenience," she said, "If it wasn't there I would have given you first without hesitation,"

"But that's not fair!"

"Don't raise your voice Elmery," the male judge said, "Or you'll face the consequences."

"S-sorry.." I muttered and left.

*****

It was 6:01 and the judges still haven't announced the results.

Were they dumb or something? I should be the one getting first place, not whoever the heck got it! I swear, if I ever meet that person I'm going to punch them in their face and demand what they have that I don't.

But, let's talk about Arlen.

I don't know why I was thinking about him, he ruined me. But I guess thoughts come and go don't they?

The previous day.

"Arlen, I need your help," I said, he looked behind and smirked, "The great Elmery George needs help? This should be interesting." he taunted.

I rolled my eyes, "I know you are quite good with Science and shit."

"Quite good?"

"Ok, very good..." I grunted, "I need help with chemical balancing."
