Arlen's POV

I messed up.

I came back from school feeling very exhausted, they made us do so much running today! I'm not used to it at all, how can a scrawny nerd ever be used to that stuff? My glasses were hanging on for dear life, I didn't even bother to adjust it. My hair was already a curly mess, now it looks identical to a birds' nest. My tie was not in place, my tucked shirt came off, and overall, I looked like a complete mess.

"Welcome home- Arlen what's wrong with you?" My mother asked, scanning me up and down. "You look horrible! Go wash up, we need to discuss something."

Discuss something? This should be interesting.

I came back after a bath and sat on the dining table, "What's for lunch?"

"The usual with nuggets."

"Yes! Let's dig in..." I was about to touch my food when my mother slapped my hand off.

"Come on! What was that for?"

"I told you we need to discuss something."

"Can't we do that with Aria and Dad? I want to eat!" I whined.

"Shut up and listen, this is very important."

"Fine, what is it?"

"When are your final exams?"

"February, why?"

"That's only a month away, oh god..." She buried her head with her hands.

"You already know I studied everything, there is absolutely no problem-"

"No, it's not that. We haven't gotten your passport yet!"

My parents are pretty rich, and getting a passport was no big deal. They could have gotten it easily if my mother stops forgetting things!

"Oh... well, that's not a problem. I could just stay in the school for another year, why are you so stressed out?"

"Because we haven't gotten your admission in this school for another year! I already submitted the leave application!"

"So just get it back."

"No, once you've given it can't be taken back!"

"That's impossible."

"Well it is to get it back!"

"So... what are we going to do?"

"This is your last year, we will be moving to Mumbai for another year. So, enjoy the time you have in this school."

Normally, I would have said, 'I don't need to enjoy it. Can't we just go to Mumbai already?'

I was so excited to go to USA, I would finally be out of this hell of a place! Mumbai would be the first step!

But, why do I have this feeling of discomfort? Do I not want to go to either of the places?

"What's wrong, Arlen?"

"Oh, nothing. I'll definitely enjoy my last month."

"I didn't expect that answer but, oh well."

The next day I was feeling a little off, I wasn't able to sleep properly because I kept thinking about how I was supposed to tell her that I'm moving. What am I supposed to do?

I was walking towards the bus stop, when I bumped into someone, "Sorry-"

"You have to help me!"

"What?"

The girl had short curly hair, brown eyes and a frightened expression. She looked liked she'd seen a ghost, she looked around my age, with a bag strapped across her shoulder. I looked behind her and saw two men coming straight this way, eyes on the bag.

"W-what's wrong?"

"I don't know where I'm going! I'm new to Delhi- and I made the mistake of coming here on my own! Do you know where Selon Claren lives?"

"S-she's my friend. She lives in my building."

"Can you please take me there quickly? Otherwise I'm going to get sold off on the black market!" She was jumping up and down and looked ready to run a marathon. I motioned her to follow me, luckily Selon was standing just outside the wing. "Selon, Selon this girl-"

"Lux! My favorite cousin!"

Selon rushed over to give her a bear hug, while I stood there awkwardly. At that moment I saw a bus pass by and cursed under my breath, "Lemon or whatever your name is-I just missed the bus because of you!"

"O-Oh...I'm sorry..."

I groaned in frustration, "Arlen, don't worry I'll take you to school with my dad. Lux, go home and rest. You must be tired."

Lux glanced at me, muttered an apology under her breath and ran off.

"Stupidity..." I muttered.

"Hey, don't be so hard on her. She came from Mumbai all by herself, I have respect for her."

"Mumbai?" I yelped.

"Ya, why?"

"Oh...nothing..." I did not mention about the fact that I was going to live there from next month onwards, no one needs to know. Yet. Mumbai is a huge city, I couldn't possibly run into her, right?

"Selon, Arlen, you guys are late. Normally Arlen's the one waking me up, but I was surprised when Dional did. What made you guys so late?" Elmery asked, for some reason when I looked at her I felt a little embarrassed.

"Mrs. Lemon."

Selon nudged me with her elbow, "Shut up, her name's Lux and she is not married!"

"Opps."

"Who's Lux?" Elmery asked, "She's a girl I happened to encounter on my way to the bus stop, I got to admit Selon," I turned my head towards her, "She's pretty."

Selon nudged me again this time harder, "Her standards are high, don't even think about it."

"It's ok Arlen, there are other girls too. In a million, at least 1% of the population might have interest in you." Elmery laughed.

"Are you apart of that 1%?"

"What?"

"What?"

"Oh god!" Selon face-palmed.

Dional just stayed quite the entire time, he knew exactly when to talk, "It's very understandable why it's only 1%, Elmery wouldn't let any other person beat her."

"Come on!" She smacked him on his arm.

"Ouch."

"Elmery don't hit him!" Selon ordered.

She raised an eyebrow, "Why do you care so much?"

I started coughing uncontrollably, "Selon, I think there is something wrong with my throat-"

"Oh for gods sake, just jump of a cliff!"

I laughed, this was so enjoyable. I'll miss this a lot, I can't possibly imagine living in another state. Much less another country. I was so used to this! Why does it have to go? Can't I just go back in time and repeat what I said to my mother? I regret it so much!

Well, that's life, isn't it?

That's Arlen D'Silvia signing off!

Elmery will be waiting.
