Cecilia.
It was September 21, 1945. World was II had just ended months before. I, Cecilia Romero, was a nurse up at once of the camps. It was absolute terror. I had nightmares every night. Sometimes even during the day. Of course, the nightmares haven't stopped. Those people, lost, souls tormented by just being alive and dealing with the pain.
Anyway, I had just left my work, the hospital. I was invited to some gala, along with the rest of the nurses at my hospital that severed in the war. I decided to attend last minute. This gala was at the Governor's house. Well, it was a spare house but he lives just behind it. My boss offers me a ride and of course, I kindly accept. I ask him to pull over at a telephone booth and he does just that. I ring my boyfriend.
"Hey, I'll be at that gala tonight, if you'd like be my date." There was a pause. Our conversations are like that now, ever since he asked me to move to Spain with him and get married and I respectfully denied.
"Why, of course." He finally replies. As I get in the back seat, I begin to change. This isn't the first time he's seen me without clothes so I'm not fazed. I change into a ruby red dress, matching lipstick, off the shoulder, cocktail dress, black fur shawl, handheld purse, and black stilettos. I fix my medium brown hair just by brushing it out a tad.
"We'll be there in about 5 minute." Says my boss. I give a nod and pick up a near by newspaper. "Oh, some man named Corbin Jett killed 5 war vets." As soon as he says this, I had already flipped to that page. My eyes begin to water, remembering the meaning of that name. How special it was to me. I manage to hold back my tears but not my thoughts.
"He wouldn't." I state.
"Excuse me?" He replies. I sign and curl my hair with my finger.
"Nothing." I brush it off. Brush off the fact that is my brother. A few minutes of silence passed. When we finally arrived he steps out in a hurry.
"Ms. Romero, we are here. May I open your door?" He asks me.
"I'd appreciate that." I mocked. He closes his door and walks over to mine. I fix myself and wait patiently as he walks over to open my door. I couldn't even take a step before paparazzi starts flashing their cameras.
I look down at a red carpet beneath my feet and listen to everybody that is surrounding me as they roar my name. I make sure to turn to all kinds of directions and impossible angles, so everyone gets a good photo. A few minutes later, as the photos start to slowly stop, I finally manage to step inside, without a crowd bombarding me with question.
I look for my boss or my boyfriend, unsure of which just hoping to find one. I cannot seem to find him anywhere. Hell, with all I know, they could be getting a blowjob from some random woman or even from each other. That thought sends a shiver down my shine. I head over to a bar and order myself a tall bottle of wine and place it near my bag so I can drink it at a later time. From the corner of my eye, I see an attractive, tall, brunette man approaching me.
"What a wonderful night, isn't it, Ms. Romero?" He says letting a charming chuckle out. I notice myself taken back at how terribly he pronounces the name I take so much pride in, so I correct him. It takes him awhile but once he gets it, he over uses my name. He grabs my hand to place a soft kiss on the back of it. "So nice to meet you, I am a huge fan, I am Gibbon Smith!" Shouts the slender man, over loud, ear bursting music. I give a kind smile. He holds his hand out for me to shake.
"Oh, please, just call me Cecilia." I insist, giving a small bow instead of the hand shake.
"But your last name has a pleasant ring to it." He responds, insisting on keeping it formal with the names.
