Cecilia

December 4, 1945

Once I finally off work, which was a little later than I anticipated. I kid you not, I ran outside at 6:02. I quickly went to find her car and hopped right in. I shot her a smile but she didn't want to look at me. Before I could even buckle up, she was backing out of the drive way.

"Hey." I say to finally break the silence. No response. "So, I-"

"So you were late. I told you a specific time to be out. Next time, be on time. I hate when I am even the slightest bit late to places. I like to be on time if not earlier." She snaps. Nearly shouting at me in this car.

I completely ignore everything she says so I won't take it personal. The car remains silent the whole way to her meeting.

Once we arrive at an office looking place she steps out and adjusts her dress. I see a familiar car, I don't know where I remember this car from but I know I remember it somewhere. She speaks, breaking my train of thought. "I'll be in here for about thirty minutes." She says throwing the car keys in my lap. "Feel free to drive around town. I'll be out in thirty minutes so seven o'clock. And please, I beg of you, really, to be on time this time, darling." She asks of me.

I feel the corners of my mouth lift. I simply love it when she calls me darling. That is when her British accent is its strongest.

"Okay, I promise." I say. She heads inside and I take off. I go to a jewellery store that is just down the street. I walk in and see diamond all around me. Then I see Tegan and she sees me. She squeals and so do I. She gives me a big hug. I return the favour.

"Cecilia! Oh, is it good to see you! I've missed you so much!" She smiles and nearly shakes me.

"I've missed you too, love. If you missed me so much why haven't you called?" I ask her, upset in a way. Her eyes almost pop out of her head.

"I did! Grady keeps picking up my calls." She groans, crossing her arm. "That bastard. I should have known he didn't tell you." And that is when I remembered... Shit.

"Oh." I say with a chuckle. I clear my throat before I begin speaking. "See, what happened was I needed space so I when to that little motel. The only one in town. But then I went to my new job, saw Elodie she invited me yesterday and now I am going back today." I say in a rush like it'll make her less upset. Her face changes quickly once it all set in. It changes a couple of times, actually.

"Hold on. You finally moved out and broke up with him?" She says with excitement. "And you live with the Governor!" She squeals. I place my finger in her lips and hush her until she lowers her voice.

"No, no and no! I didn't move out, it is still my apartment. I just needed a break, so no, we didn't break up. And finally, I didn't move in. It's like an extended slumber party with his wife."

"Ugh, I told you to stop saying slumber party. You sound ridiculous." She claims I roll my eyes and laugh.

"So, what are you doing here?" I ask her. She hold up a tiny bag. She pulls a beautiful pearl necklace out of it.

"This! It's beautiful, isn't it?" She asks me. I nod but stare at it in awe. She finally places it back in her bag and pulls me in a warm embrace. "Alright, I have to go now. Just call me when you get the chance, okay? Do you still remember by number?" She asks, I hear the sadness in her throat.

"By heart." I say, she had a final smile and walks out of the shop. I walk around for a few minutes before I come across diamond earring. Diamond has been so hard to find and to actually find some is amazing. Let along being surrounded by them. So I buy them as a Christmas gift.
