Cecilia

December 9 1945

Once I offer to leave I can see Elodie is slowly, but surely, losing her patience with everyone.

"Cecilia sit down." Elodie snapped before taking a breath. I don't think I've ever seen her this infuriated yet so calm and collected. "Vera, make sure Loraline says in her room."

"But-" Vera begins. All Elodie has to do is shoot a look for Vera to do as she says.

"No! Don't touch my kid." Lamar says,  slurring his words.

Lamar stumbles, he doesn't make it past the couch before falling. Elodie scoffs.

"Get up." Elodie growled, grabbing his arm and nearly yanking him up.

"Apologise." Elodie demands.

"To her? No." He scoff.

"Apologise or I'm leaving." I see his eyes go wide. She shoots a glance at me then stares back at him, I'm guessing since I'm here he's choosing to stand his ground.

"You won't. And even if you did, that's all?" He laughs.

"And I'm taking Loraline. I'll take you to court and tell them you put your hands on a woman. You're the governor. How will that look? You'll be in cuffs."

"They'll never believe that."

"Is the so?" Elodie grabs my arm and pulls me up from my seat. She shows him my arm from where he was grabbing me. It's bruised. I didn't even notice that. "Not only that, Vera and Bennett are here. They'll be my witnesses. So fucking try me." She laughs after stepping closer with every word.

All of that just for an apology? It makes me feel a little better that she cares.

"I'm sorry, Cecilia." He mutters.

"Say it with your chest." She smile, patting his chest twice. "Tell her why you're sorry." She talks to him as if he were a child. I hug myself and turn to the side.

"I'm sorry Cecilia for putting my hands on you and treating you in such a terrible manner."

Elodie smiles. "That wasn't so hard, was it?" She pats his face a little hard it looks like she's slapping him. She kisses his cheek.

"Get upstairs and get a shower. You reek of alcohol. It's revolting." She growled. He whispers something under his breath as he nearly falls on every step of the stairs.

"You weren't really going to do all that, were you?" I ask in a whisper. The power she holds is terrifying yet attractive.

"I'd do anything for you Cecilia. So yes, I would have." She says, pulling me closer. Although I'm still hugging myself she hugs me too. She kisses my head and holds me. She lifts my head so I'd look at her. "Are you alright?"

"Mm-hmm." I say, looking at my bruise.

"I noticed you bruise easily. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to put you on the spot." She kisses my lips. I wrap my arms around her neck to allow the kiss to linger. She smiles and wraps her arms around my waist.

"I've been waiting for this all day." I smile, leaning in for another.

"Well you're going to have to wait a but longer, my love." She smiles back but now my smiles drops. I roll my eyes and scoff.

"Don't make me wait too long." I sigh. Only a second later I see her eyes open wide.

"One second." She groan as she heads up the stairs.

I walk upstairs, trying to gather all Cecilia's things and move them. I see Lamar on the bed, knocked out with something in his hand.
