TO LOVE SOMEONE LONG TERM IS TO ATTEND A THOUSAND FUNERALS OF THE PEOPLE THEY USED TO BE. The people they are too exhausted to be any longer. The people they do not recognize inside themselves anymore. The people they grew out of, the people they never ended up growing into.

Enola fought for Klaus. She so badly wanted to get his spark back every time it burnt out; to become quickly found when he was lost. But it was not her job to travel with him between each version and to honor what emerges along the way. Sometimes it will be an even more luminescent flame. Sometimes it will be a flicker that disappears and temporarily floods the room with a perfect and necessary darkness. It was something they were still learning. Some battles you have to fight alone.

"What do you think you are doing?" Klaus stormed into the bedroom to find Enola packing a bag full of necessities.

"Elijah said they are on the road," Enola shrugged, not bothering to spare Klaus a single glance. "I am going to go to them and get our daughter." Klaus went to argue, only for Enola to swifty interrupt. "Do not tell me that it isn't safe. I will tell you what isn't safe—blowing up a house just to keep your evil brother from finding her."

"We will deal with Finn," Klaus claimed.

"And then what?" Enola questioned. "Every time you kill him, he is just going to jump into another body."

"We tried running, we tried hiding—neither will work." Klaus pointed out.

"So what is your bright idea then?" Enola scoffed.

"It just so happens that I am working on a plan as we speak—one which will bolster greatly if you would just calm down." Klaus pleaded.

"Do not manage me," Enola scowled. "I have every right to freak out—"

"We are getting married today. An act which will seal the loyalty of all the wolves that answer to Finn." Klaus announced, looking at Enola with wide eyes full of disbelief. "You will be queen to an army." He took the bag out of her hands and she let him. "And a queen does not run."

"I hate when we fight," Enola confessed.

"I hate when we fight too," Klaus sighed.

"It is our wedding day. I know sometimes I'm a little bit of a disappointment. I rarely know what I want or think before I act." Enola expressed. "Still, I want you to know that in a lifetime of rushed decisions and mistakes, you're the first thing that has ever felt right."
