❝ i am sick of these witches and their promotions about my baby. ❞

ENOLA HAS NEVER HAD LUCK ON HER SIDE. She was born into a body that doesn't work, with insufficient chemicals in her brain, and a heart too big for her own body. Her love has been unrequited too many times to call it chance and she'd rather drown herself in superstition that believes this is what she deserves. So she chalks it up to luck, or the lack of it. She blames the fates, blames the universe, blames the stars in the sky—she does everything in her power to keep her heart from caving in and she calls herself unlucky if it helps her to survive yet another kidnapping.
Enola has changed her name. She had changed her smile. She had changed her life. But she could never escape her past. Not completely. She had only let her guard down for a moment. But a moment was all it took for someone to knock her out cold and stuff her in the cramped trunk. Fortunately, she wasn't alone. Hayley was there and refused to go quietly. So the werewolf slammed her food into the right taillight, breaking it out all the while alerting their captor.
The vehicle screeched to a sudden halt making them jerk forward before the engine was finally cut. They listened intently to the sound of the door opening and closing as their perpetrator stepped out of the vehicle. They could hear the footsteps nearing the trunk thanks to the heavy boots the kidnapper must've been wearing. Then there was the familiar sound of a trunk popping before it was finally yanked open to reveal—
"Tyler?"
Enola and Hayley wore matching looks of shock. Tyler should have been on the other side of the world right now. Yet here he was—unafraid and vengeful. He was here for a reason and that reason was to make his enemy suffer which wouldn't end well for anyone involved. He would make sure of it.
"You don't want to fight me on this," Tyler warned. "You can't beat a hybrid."
"Fight you on what?" Enola squeaked.
"All you need to know is that I've got plans for you," Tyler claimed.
"Then why take me?" Hayley questioned.
"Because you both betrayed me,"

Tyler never elaborated on that last statement and neither Enola nor Hayley pried. He simply hauled them out of the vehicle before dragging them through the bayou, kicking and screaming. They walked until the midnight blue sky was painted sunrise orange. He roughly shoved them down on the porch to some old cabin in the middle of the woods, allowing them to get an overview of their surroundings. Not that it helped them.
