Next day's breakfast was more calm than the previous day. Haymitch was in a sort of sober state which helped tremendously as he could actually mentor us.
"How was the first day at school kids?" He said as he took a bun of bread out of the middle of the table.
"We stuck to the plan." Jamie said.
"Which was...?"
"Being a siblinglike duo" I answered.
"Oh yeah, thats right" he nods and his head hunged lower as if not wanting to meet my gaze. "How did that go?"
"Good, kind of" I answered.
"Why?" he quickly said.
"I trained a bit after the session ended and showed off a bit but I had the impression there was a mentor behind the glass. It was just a feeling but I think I was right. I did tell whoever it was not to go after me though."
"Like that would work against a killer" Jamie muttered, I gave him a killing look in return.
"Well, I will go do down to check if there is anyone there. No one is there after the first session but if they were there last night watching you they will be there now" Haymith said.
"Thank you" I said lowly.
"Anything else I should know?" he asked looking at Jamie.
"We were thinking about allying with 9 and 10".
"Sure, do as you feel like. Be careful of the girl of girl of 9 though, there is something off about her" Haymitch answered. I wonder what he sees in Tana but taking into account he had to read 49 people in his games his intutition is bounded to be right. Better be careful around her then.
The three of us go down in the elevator and Haymitch departs away from us as soon as we reach the level -1 going onto a corridor probably the access to the vieway. The training room wasn't as full as yesterday as we came down earlier. As I examine the room for the different tributes I could see Jamie's eyes almost bulging out of its sockets upon seeing something.
"Now I know how you found the viewpoint" he nudged me. Apparently they had not replaced the glass yet so the position of the shattered window was still visible. The only thing they had done was getting rid of my knife so no one could tell how the break of it happened.
"I knifed it, I didn't think it would shatter though. I was bluffing" he stiffles a laugh.
"Luckily I don't think no one else clocked it was you so we are on the clear" I nod and start my way into the survival section while he goes off to the hammer section. Today I focuse on material selection, getting to identify new different ground types to be able to search efficiently for water in the arena. District 12 has a good material water zones variety but the arena could be recreate things that are even outside of Panem so more knowledge wouldn't hurt. Bella and Tana were next to me trying out fire making.
"These damn stick are so annoying" Tana said as she couldn't twist them fast enough to light them up. After 3 hours they were finally successful In the meantime, I managed to learn about about the entire variety of Panem soil. After that we go to lunch.
"What do y'all think about the Pack?" Samuel asks.
"A temper tamtrum will happen with the girl from 2" Jake says. I nod in aggrement as I was obvious Marble was mentally unstable.
"Yeah and the twins seem coordinated like I have never seen in my life. They will win unless one dies" Bella adds. She is right, the key to destroying the Hadleys was killing one before the other, that however would be a dangerous thing as it will be very hard and the remaing twins is guaranteed to chase after however it was.
