Friday finally comes. Wayne High decided yet again to cancel the football game due to Joker's activity. It is also the time for Richard and I do the patrolling this evening. Our third date. Or would this be our first date as Robin and Starfire? I do not know. That would be a question to ask later on.
Richard and I walk into the lunch room together and see our friends sitting at our table. We walk over and we are instantly greeted. We sit at our normal spots and listen into the conversation that was already in motion.
Bruce Wayne's Gala.
I can feel Richard getting tired of the conversation. I know the galas are something that he doesn't enjoy already. I try to think of a conversation that we can both have.
I pull my phone out and text Richard: I am excited for our date.
I can feel his phone vibrate in his football jacket's pocket. He digs it out and reads it. I see him tapping out the words to reply.
Richard: Me too. It's a lot of fun to see Gotham at night in a different way.
Me: I can't wait to see it.
Richard: I know you will love it. Especially when we are on the rooftops.
Me: Well what if I told you I already have?
When I clicked send, I wait for Richard to read it. When he finish with reading the text, he looks at me with eyebrows raised. I tell him that I would tell him later.
"So Richard, are you excited for Bruce's gala?" Babs ask.
"I guess. It's a requirement for me to go. Same with Jason." Richard shrugs.
"Who are you taking?" Wally asks.
"I don't know yet." Richard smirks in my direction. I don't know exactly what a gala is, but according to Richard its a miserable time.
"Ooo...playing hard to get I see." Wally plays along.
"Well I do have someone in mind, but I don't think she would go with me." Richard continues.
"If she says no to you, can I take her?" Wally gives Richard the puppy dog eyes and begs.
"She is way out of your league dude!" Richard laughs, he then brings his attention to Babs, "Hey Babs! Want to go to the gala with me?"
"You idiot! No!" Babs yells.
Richard shrugs his shoulders to Wally, "She's all yours man."
Wally's expression changes to annoyance. Richard laughs and I can't help be let out a small laugh myself. Wally then starts to beg Babs to take him to the gala and she is keeping her ground. They go back and fourth for a while.
"Richard? What is a gala?" I whisper.
"Its a charity event that Bruce hosts. Jason and I go every year. Babs comes too because of her dad. Babs and I usually go together, as friends I would like to clarify, since we have to go anyways. Jason usually brings a date." Richard whispers back.
"Ah, I see." I tell him. I give him a soft smile. He coughs to clear his throat. The bell rings for us to leave and attend our afternoon classes.

"Babs!" I find her after school. Babs turns when she hears my voice. There is a smile across her face.
"What's up Star?" Babs stops in order for me to catch up.
I get to her, "Are you going to the gala?"
"I have to. My dad makes me go every year." Babs huffs. She doesn't seem like she wants to attend either. How bad can it be?
