Richard takes a step away from me and radios back. I jump off of the counter and walk over to Richard.
"I'm sorry, Kori. I got to go. But I will be back if it's not too late." Richard promises. I nod and hand him his car keys that he left on the counter.
He softly smiles at me and turns to leave. I can hear him lacing up his boots, and soon the door opening and closing behind him. I put my hands on the counter and lean back. Did we almost kiss? Did he want to kiss me? Did I want to kiss him? I shake my head from the thoughts.
I pull out a plate and a big bowl. I grab a pizza cutter from a drawer and help myself to some cooked pizza. I put the rest on a plate. I find some aluminum foil and cover the second plate with it, adding it to the fridge. I slide my plate over to the other side of the counter and I sit myself down. I grab hold of a slice of pizza. Took a bite and chew. I sit there and eat quietly by myself. Every once in a while I would hear a car drive by or birds chirping their good nights.
I soon finish eating, so I clean up the kitchen mess. I learned that I enjoy hand washing the dishes, it relaxes me and makes me feel like I am a part of something. I head upstairs once the kitchen is clean so I can clean myself up for tomorrow. I shower and change into some comfy sweatpants and a tee shirt. I go back downstairs and turn on the TV, so I can flip through mindless shows.
-----------------------------
I wake up to the doorbell ringing. I rub my eyes awake to find that I feel asleep on the couch. I get up slowly to see who is at the door. I look through the peep hole and see that its Richard standing outside. I unlock the door for Richard.
"Hey, I told you I would be back."
I point to my wrist, asking for the time. Richard pulls out his watch and reads, "It's almost nine o'clock."
I let Richard in and I go back to my spot on the couch. Richard soon joins me.
I rub my stomach asking if he was hungry. He shakes his head no.
"You like watching Gilmore Girls?"
I shrug. I honestly do not know what show is being played, but I guess Richard recognizes it. It must be popular. I lay down and watch the show with Richard. Show after show passes. Soon I hear little snores. I look up and see that Richard fell asleep. I let out a small giggle. I get up and find a blanket and put it over Richard's body. I turn off everything and head upstairs to fall asleep myself.
--------------------------
Chirp. Chirp. Chirp.
I roll over and cover my head with a pillow.
Chirp. Chirp. Chirp.
I need to get up. I roll back over and click off my alarm. I sit up and rub the sleep from my eyes. I get up and look at my side table which I find along with a note. The note reads:
Good morning Kori,
I left to change and I will plan to pick up up around 10.
Sign, R.
I look at the time on my alarm clock. It's after nine. I bolt up and fly to the bathroom. I fly through my hair routine and shot myself to my closet. What do I even wear on for a job that I don't even know what I am doing? I slide the hangers through and find nothing. I fly to Komi's bedroom and find a pair of what she would call dress pants and a nice green shirt. I fly back to my room and change. I look at myself in the mirror and I am satisfied with how I look. I grab a pair of socks and found an old pair of black boots. I sit on the edge of the bed and put those on my feet. I tap my phone. It's almost 9:25.
