Starships

Chapter 41

Richard and I are able to find a motel to stay at that is located on the outskirts of Gotham. Richard was able to outsmart the motel worker using Jason's name and stating that Richard is his new assistant. The hotel worker told us that our room will be billed to Wayne Enterprise.

We get upstairs to our motel room. We both fall on the bed and lay there in silence. I roll on my stomach, putting my arms up so my head is resting on them. I can feel Richard get up, and leave me. I hear his footsteps leave the bed, then him turning around and coming back. He again lays in bed. I open my eyes and see that he is on his back, staring at the ceiling. I see that we went to retrieve the TV remote.

I reach out to him and touch his shoulder. He shutters and turns towards me. I do the same.

"Kori. I feel so stupid." Richard admits. I touch his cheek, trying to let him know that it isn't his fault. He holds my hand there, and lets out a big sigh. He rolls back and clicks the TV on. I turn my head to look at the TV screen.

He flips through the channels, and stops when we both see a familiar face. Bruce Wayne is on the TV. He is talking about the upcoming gala. Richard sits up to get a better listen. The reporter is asking about any details with the gala and where it will take place.

"This year's gala will be at the local museum. We will be donating all of the proceeds to the local orphanage where my sons both came from. Tickets are on sale now, and you can see the time and dates on the website." Bruce answers.

Richard clicks through the next few channels before turning the TV off completely. 

"Are you tired?" Richard looks over at me and I nod, "Well I can sleep on the floor." 

Richard gets up to go to his new spot on the floor, but my arm reaches back out to stop him. I shake my head no, and pat on the bed. Richard looks back at me.

"Are you sure?" Richard asks me. I nod again. We both get under the covers and soon we both fall asleep.

I woke up first. I look at the alarm clock and see that we slept until 2pm. I try to get up, but I am pinned back down to the bed. I feel Richard's arms wrapped tightly around my waist. I allow myself to relax back into Richard's embrace.

Richard wakes up around dinner time. When he wakes up he almost pushes me off of the bed. I catch myself before falling off. 

"I'm sorry Kori." Richard yawns. I glare at him. My stomach grumbles which makes me jump, "Want to order pizza?" 

I nod and get out of bed. I stretch and walk around our room. Richard dials on the room's phone to the local pizza place. He orders us two pizzas and drinks. He tells the operator to charge it to Bruce Wayne's account, and proceeds to give a number. He thanks the person on the other end and hangs up.

"Okay so two things. One the pizzas will be here in twenty minutes." I nod, "Second, how are we able to go back to our time period?"  I shrug. I go back and sit on the bed next to Richard. 

Before we know it there is a knock on the door. Richard gets up and answers it. He brings back two pizzas and a liter of soda. He puts the pizzas on the bed and puts the bottle of soda on the side table. He gets two cups from the bathroom and pours the soda into each cup. By the time Richard comes back to bed, I ate half of a pizza.

"Good thing I ordered two." Richard smiles as he hands me a cup. I take the remote from Richard and I take my turn to flip through the channels. I come across a cartoon movie. 

"All Dogs Go to Heaven?" Richard asks me. I look at him confused, "That is what this movie is called. It use to play all the time at the orphanage." 

We sit and watch the movie while we eat our dinner.
