A/N: Alright, I'm not too sure of the dragon-to-human age thing, but I'm fairly certain they're considered adults once they reach age 8

Moon POV

"Thank you for shopping here; please come again," Moon droned, tapping the register with a claw and giving the SandWing customer her receipt.

Moon had been working as a cashier at the Target (LOOK LETS JUST PRETEND TARGET EXISTS IN PYRRHIA ALRIGHT OK BACK TO THE STORY) in Sanctuary for a few months, and so far...she hated it. It paid decently, though, at least enough to sustain her until she got a better job.

Gosh, I wish I'd had some coffee this morning, thought Moon while she stifled a yawn. At least the store was closing, so her shift was almost over. Then she could go home and sink herself into a plushy chair and read.

Bliss.

Then she realized the SandWing was still there.

"...Is there anything else I can help you with?" Moon asked.

"Uh, so," the SandWing began. "Do you happen to be free?"

"I'm seeing someone," she promptly replied.

She wasn't, but this was the fastest way to get rid of such dragons. Moon wasn't planning on finding a mate anytime soon.

The SandWing sighed. "I probably should've expected as much."

Welp, now she felt guilty. "I can introduce you to my friend Kinkajou," Moon offered.

The SandWing immediately stepped away. "Thanks, but no thanks. Kinkajou is notorious in the blind dating community."

"That's fair," Moon admitted. "Have a nice day then."

"You too."

As the customer left, Moon yawned. Just one more customer, perhaps, and she could go home.

Then there was a cacophony of sounds as someone dumped their items onto the conveyor belt.

Moon jumped and looked at the customer.

Uh...wow.

Her last customer was a handsome male IceWing with a bracelet, a single obsidian-like rock tied to it. Judging by how two RainWings were looking at him near the exit, she wasn't the only one who had noticed that.

"Make it quick, if you could," the IceWing said. "I have a life to live."

Pass.

The rest of us also have lives to live, monsieur, Moon inwardly rolled her eyes. If I had a choice, I'd be at home reading instead of dealing with you.

"Would you like a bag?" she asked as she finished scanning the items, putting a slight hint of scorn into her voice while looking up at him (he was about a head and a half taller than her, which was annoying).

Arctic-blue eyes met jade-green eyes as the two glared at each other.

Then the IceWing's gaze fell to her nametag, and he frowned before looking away. "No bags, thank you."

Huh, he was suddenly polite.

Also...why do I feel like I've met this IceWing before? Moon thought as she returned her attention to the register. "Your total is 95 silvers," Moon said after a while. "Cash or credit?"

The IceWing looked surprised. "That's so expensive."

"Inflation," Moon sighed. "Can you just give me your card? I'm not paying for you, but I'll swipe your card for you and you can gripe about prices later."

Come on just pay so I can go home please please please...

The IceWing sighed and took out his wallet, which looked extremely worn out and also overstuffed. "Wait a second then."

First he took out two bills.

Then he took out a check (which was empty).

Then he took out three coins.

Then he took out a massive deck of cards and began flipping through them one by one, presumably to find a credit or debit card.

"Uh," Moon started. "Want some help?"

"...Sure," the IceWing muttered as he handed half of the deck to Moon, who then flipped through them.

Insurance cards...ID card (huh, his name was Winter; that name sure seemed familiar)...three debit cards from a bank that had crashed just the month before...another blank check...a membership card to a gym...two library cards...

"...Why do you have 18 paper clips?"

"Don't ask," the IceWing/Winter muttered. "Any debit card will do, by the way. Wait, I found one."

"Alright," Moon sighed as he swiped the card. "Thanks for shopping with us, then."

At least her shift was over.

"Thanks," Winter muttered as he stuffed his things back into his wallet and grabbed his items. "Bye."

As Moon watched him leave, she stretched happily and started cleaning up some stray bags and such.

Her dream of going home lasted until she saw a card on the counter.

I guess Winter dropped it, she thought as she picked it up.

Sure enough, the card (an outdated ID) displayed some general info of Winter along with a photo of him scowling.

Yeah, Winter definitely looked really familiar...

Moon thought about it as she fiddled with her skyfire bracelet, which she had to wear all the time nowadays to not hear everyone's thoughts.

Wait...Winter had a bracelet with a rock, didn't he? ...Ah. I remember now.

Well, he hadn't seemed thrilled to see Moon, but he didn't seem angry either...?

I'll think about that later, Moon decided, shaking her head. How do I return this to him then? Should I just give this to the police? ...No, nevermind. The police won't help much. His address is probably on the card, right?

Sure enough, on the back, in extremely small print, a sentence proclaimed, If lost, please return to 5733 Tiesha Street, Apt. G, West Fabian, Sanctuary 99999, Pyrrhia.

Moon slowly packed up her stuff into a bag.

Woo, time to run an errand.
