Chapter 2
I think he pulled me into the shack because I can smell rotted flesh. I shiver knowing that it'll be me next. I hear the door open and I pretend to still be knocked out. I hear, "Why is she still asleep. I thought you just knocked her out." That was a female voice, is he working with someone else, "She could just be a wimp who can't take a punch." They both laugh and I instantly sit up and they look shocked. They regain their composure before the girl starts talking, "Hey Charlie. I'm sorry we had to meet like this, but I didn't have another choice. He wasn't supposed to punch you though." She reaches her arm up and decks him in the nose. I hear a crack and then I see his crimson colored blood roll down his face and stain the top of his shirt. She continues speaking, "I wish I could know what's going on in that pretty little head. Anywho, you have something we want. Or better yet, your parents gave you something we want. They gave you a chip and you should give it to us. This chip could be the end of the world, for you, and just the beginning for us. Now tell us where the chip is or we will kill you," she snarls out that last part. I try to keep quiet, but I word vomit. "I don't know what you're talking about and I would be glad if you let me go. You've gotten something mixed up. This chip you're talking about, my parents haven't given me." She just stares at me and I stare at her, while I start cutting the rope. Remember when the guy had that knife, he didn't put it down when he came to me. While I sadly had a bad case of word vomit I took the knife and now I have it. I feel the ropes release, but I still keep my hands there. She walks up to me, "You will tell me where the chip is." I don't know what she had planned, but I reach up and stab her. The guy is too busy wailing about his nose to see me. She rolls over with a loud thump, and that is when I catch his attention. He looks at me with wide eyes before he pulls out a gun, "Did you really think you'd make it out of here alive?" I just shrug my shoulders. He shoots and nothing comes out, did I mention that I also unloaded his gun? He has a look of panic and fear written all over his face. I slowly walk up to him, "Tell your boss to leave me alone. I don't know what chip you're talking about and you should stop bothering me before you piss me off." I stab his leg and walk out of the shack, the school is empty so I head home. When I get inside Susan and Harold rush over to me. "We are so sorry for not telling you. We should have warned you about this." She doesn't get to finish because somebody shoots her. Harold screams and pulls me upstairs. I push him away, "What the hell is going on?" He just gives me a piece of paper before pushing me into the basement with a gun. I hear a thud and then I hear footsteps coming down the stairs. "Look little girl, we can't imagine how you killed Margaret. She wasn't the best, but she was good. Come out now, and I won't kill you." I put the gun behind me in my pants and grab the knife from earlier. He smiles, "I'm not dumb give me the knife." I know he's probably seen the toss up, but I add a twist. I toss up some random pencil I had in my bookbag and then I throw the knife. He catches it, but then drops it when I pull the gun out and shoot him. I smile and walk over to him, "I may not know what's going on, but I'm not stupid either. I've been training for this my whole life apparently." I grab the knife and take the gun with me. I walk down a block and steal Mrs. Havens' car. I get in and pull out the paper: To a place of business and refuge you must go, then make a u-turn. 4776251 are the numbers. I just stare at this, what the hell does this mean. Business and refuge, isn't that at like the Stemmings Hotel. They are known for their business meeting areas and their hotel suites. I drive there and then make a u-turn at the light. The first thing I see is a competing hotel and I drive to it. I look at the room numbers, on the key it says, Floor 16-Room 19-Code 667. This must be the number it was talking about. I reach into my pocket and I don't see the paper. Crap, I must have dropped it somewhere. I go up to the floor and room and type in the code. It lets me in and I see one paper. It reads: I'm sorry we couldn't be here to help you understand. We've done some terrible things sweetheart. You have something they need and you shouldn't let them get it. You have to protect the chip at all times. We didn't do the c... There is a line on the rest of it like she couldn't complete it. Mom always called me sweetheart. My tears slowly start to fall onto the paper and then I hear banging on the door, "Open the door it's me Harold." I then listen to my surroundings and I hear the click of a gun being loaded and I instantly go on guard. "Harold you already know the code come on in," I yell through the door. I go to the window and I see cars pulling into the front, I open the window and go to the vents. I'm not stupid, I let the note fall out the window before I climb into the air ducts. I start crawling around and eventually I come to something that goes straight down. I line up my arms and legs and slide down slowly. I burned some skin on my arms, but my legs were protected by my jeans. The jeans which are now ruined and must be thrown away. I reach into the backpack that I found and it is filled with money. I go to the nearest store and grab some chips, a water, gum, matches, mentos, soda, and three packs of light bulbs. I go find a motel, which is conveniently next to the store. I get a room and go change into the clothes in the bag. I put on the black skinny jeans, and the black tanktop with my converse. I pull my hair up into a ponytail and put on my glasses. I used to wear contacts that made my eyes look green, but only because my eyes were purple. I have a weird form of incomplete albinism, but it doesn't really affect my life. I put the glasses on and I feel more like myself. I crunch up a pack of the light bulbs and place them outside the door. Then I put another pack into the air ducts and the last pack goes onto the stoop. I pull strings from the bed and tie them to the 8 pack of mentos. I open seven of the sodas and put the mentos in just enough so you can't see it and then I close the lid so it can hold it in place. Then I cut off the excess string and line the bottles up. I take all of the gum out of the wrappers and put them into a napkin and wrap them up for later. I take the wrappers and lay them around somewhere in the room. I take the sheets and the mattress and put them so they cover the room. I pull down the curtains and do the same thing. I turn the shower onto hot water and let the steam fill the room. I sit down and eat my chips and water and then I put the extra soda into the bag. Just incase I need a boost or blast of soda. I get the last mentos and put it into the napkin with the gum. I hear the crunch of light bulbs outside the door, window, and above the room. They are really stupid, I throw a bottle outside the door and into the air ducts. They open it and I hear screams and laughter. I open the other five and let them spray everywhere. I take the matches and I start lighting the room up on fire. The little bit of carbon dioxide from the bottles and then the fire should combine with the steam from the shower to make it almost impossible to breathe in the room. I go into the shower and open the window next to it. I'm about 4 stories up and I do the only thing I could possibly think of, I jump.
