Chapter 15

"I was five years old and I had a dream that I was going to kill a girl. I took the pencil and stabbed her in the eye and she died. I just thought it was an awful nightmare, but it wasn't. I really killed someone. The same girl, the same way. Then a year later I had a dream that my teacher would die in a car accident and she would live for two days, 6 minutes, and 37 seconds after the accident. I recently checked the time of death and it was the same time I saw. These dreams occurred when something affected me or someone close to me. I can't explain why this is happening, and I don't think I ever will be able to. Jake has known about my dreams and I'm sorry I didn't say anything. It's weird and I don't like long winded explanations," I say. I take in a breath and they lower their guns. Mrs. Stanley says, "You could have told me. I love you just like my own daughter." I smile and we all sit down in a circle. I decide that I should bring something up, "You know Mister is going to find us right?" Mrs. Stanley looks shocked, "He can't find this. He has to know the code and everything. He also has to know where to find us," she says to me. I respond, "You've been working there for 30 years, pq are the first and last letters of your second middle name, and you've been dating Mr. Oakland for 24 years." She looks confused, "Yeah, and," she asks. I chuckle, "You subconsciously chose a password that has extreme significance to you." She hits herself in the head and stands up. I smile, "It's okay. I know a way out of here, I think." Everyone nods and we stand up together. I walk over to the steps and pull out the one that felt different from the rest. I tell everyone to climb into their, of course it took a little while longer for Mr. Oakland and Jake to get in there. I climb into the place and put the step back into place, gluing it down. "How did you know about this," Ravenna asks. "When I was a kid I used to explore things. Most of them were underground, I could go missing for weeks. I became extremely familiar with things underground. I just guessed and hoped that the step would lead here. People could follow us down here, but unless they know they place, they'll be lost forever. Certain things take different amounts of pressure to move. I learned a lot down here," I respond. I turn 3 flashlights and I give one to the girls, one to the couple, and I keep the other one for myself.
