Chapter 3
I landed on a mattress truck, I have no idea how this got here, but then it pulled off. I just lay up there, I didn't think jumping would help me. I had no idea where this thing was going. We stopped in front of a mattress warehouse and someone yelled, "You can come down pretty lady. I'm not going to hurt you." I look down and I almost fall off the truck, I saw Jake from kindergarten. I jumped down and into his arms, we squeezed each other until someone cleared their throat. His dad, Mr. Ritcher. "Hello Charletta, how have you been?" I look at him and roll my eyes, "Mr. Ritcher you know I don't like my name. It's Charlie. I'm fine by the way, but how did you find me?" His smile falters and he takes me into the warehouse. We all sat down and Mr. R started talking, "Your parents are my family. Your mom and I are brother and sister. Her surname is Ritcher. I loved your mom so much and I didn't know that she was a rogue. I did the only thing I could think of. I didn't kill her, I convicted her. I did the thing any loving brother who was part of the organization would do. I didn't want her to die, I saved her life. I sentenced her to life in that asylum so she would be protected. She did horrible things and that is why you're running. Susan and Harold are not related to you. They were hired by me as your protectors. Now, your mom gave you this CD, chip, whatever. Now give it to me so these people can stop chasing you." He stood up and I started backing up, "I don't know about this thing that everybody keeps talking about. You weren't related to my mother. Her surname was Daniels. You lied, what do you want from me Roger?" He stops walking and claps, "You aren't as dumb as I thought. Your mom turned herself in for protection, but that doesn't concern you. Give me the chip or I'll kill you and get it from your mother." I stop walking back and straighten my back, "You can do whatever you want, but I will not cower in fear." He just smiled and lunged at me, quite predictable if you ask me. I easily side-stepped the attack and kicked him in the face. He sprung up, but not quickly enough because I kicked him a second time. When he recuperated from the kicks he crookedly smiled. He tries to punch me, but I duck under his arm and swing my leg around his neck. I jump and pull his arm out of socket. He screams in pain and then pulls out a gun, using his other hand, and points it at my head. "Sorry to say this, but at least you'll be reunited with your mother again." I hear a gunshot, but when I open my eyes there are brains on the floor where his head was. I look up and see Jake, "Jake you didn't have to choose me over your father." He shakes his head, "My dad just tried to kill the love of my life, and, I just said that out loud. I can't believe that." I kiss him and and things start to get heated. I pull back and stop us from getting carried away. I go sit back in my seat, "What organization was he talking about?" He looks at me and he has an unsettling look on his face, "This was an organization responsible for one thing. Death. In the last year everyone combined has killed 1 million people. If you stray from the rules, you are sentenced to death. If you speak of the organization outside of given context, you die. Your parents wanted to tell you and they've tried several times. They were threatened several times, but they persisted. They gathered enough information to blackmail the organization and secrets of the organization members. At least that is what I was told." I look at him and an idea pops into my head, "Why don't we both go to the organization and pretend to join? I can give them a fake disc that I can make on my cell, and then we can find out what really happened to my parents." Jake smiles, "That sounds like a plan." Right before we leave I say, "I love you too." We get in the truck and start our journey to someone else who is part of the organization.
