My phone buzzes, making my peaceful sleep come to an end. I groan into my pillow, ignoring the buzz, hoping it will eventually stop. Of course, it doesn't, so I lay in bed for four minutes just listening to my alarm going off. Once I finally gain the energy to move I get up and stop the buzzing noise.

I stretch, letting all the chills leave my body at once. My feet meet the cold wooden floors as I make my way around my bed and pull the string to the blinds of my bedroom windows. The wall directly in front of the entrance was a pattern of wide and skinny windows that reached the bottom of the floor to the top of the wall. The warm golden sunrise seeps into my bedroom, the white colored walls truing a warm shade of cream in response. I set my phone down at the desk in front of the windows and made my bed.

I step back and admire my wooden birch-colored box bed frame. Moving in wasn't easy, but seeing the calm aesthetic of my room made it worth it in the end. The rest of the house was typical modern, but my room was my safe space so I made it a calmer tone. It reminded me of my room back in California.

Just when I'm about to head to the shower my phone buzzes again. When I pick up my phone and look at the notification, I'm somehow not surprised to see Adrien's name again.

Adrien

A- Help. I'm being forced to listen to Grayson ramble about Evelyn.

I laugh at the message and lean against the bathroom counter. Type up my response.

K- so what, you texting me often is normal for us now?

A- Hey, what happened to nice Katie? I want her back.

K- Right here.

A- I'm bored, and I don't have any other contact on my phone besides family (who I don't speak to about Evelyn.) and hookups. So forgive me if I misinterpreted you telling me we should be friends last night.
