Dr. Kawashita needed to perfect his potion. The one that would stop global warming. The potion that would allow humans to breathe in carbon dioxide and out oxygen. He had already tested the potion on his cat, Opal. It had worked. Now, he was just making sure the small defects here and there were gone. Dr. Kawashita had created the potion 9 weeks, or 2 months and a week ago, immediately testing it on his cat. Little did he know the changes that had occoured to Opal, changing her eye colours. Dr. Kawashita now was preparing her food, he hurriedly put her food in the bowl in the testing room and went out. He had to perfect his potion that week. That was all the time he was given. Opal ate her lunch quietly, before something weird happened to her. She felt a burning sensation at her front paws and looked at them. She mewed in surprise when she saw them on fire. She pranced around the room, jumping onto chairs and tables, knocking down test tubes. Her back paws soom caught fire too and soon the whole room was on fire. Dr. Kawashita ran from where he was to the testing room when he had smelt the smoke. "Opal! Opal! What happened?!" He saw Opal finally prancing onto a tube of flamable liquid in front of the mirror. He stared into her terrified white eyes, not knowing what was happening before the whole lab exploded. Dr. Kawashita and Opal never to be seen again.
The room quietened down as Mr. Onyo entered the room, sitting at the front. He cleared his throat and made his announcement, "As you all know, Dr. Kawashita has passed on at the explosion in his lab. From this point on, we will be stopping Project CO2. Any further questions?" A hand shot out, like an an eager elementary school student wanting to anwser a question. Mr. Onyo nodded in his direction and the man, Dr. Katoki asked, " Why can't we find out how Dr. Kawashita made this potion, and maybe remake it?" Mr. Onyo shook his head sadly, his voice soft instead of his usual booming loud voice." When the lab exploded, nothing escaped, not even Dr. Kawashita's cat Opal. Especially not the potion." Little did he know, that some tiny particles had escaped the explosion, some hundreds of them. It only took about 20 of those particles to take effect on a human's body, changing him or her, from oxygen breathing to carbon dioxide breathing. Which also meant about 21
people in all of Japan could get infected, and what would that become, judging what has become of Opal?~ Uhm I hope you enjoyed this chapter, I'll update whenever I can so try to stick with me ok? Thanks! ^^
