Chapter XII

Isla looked around the room worriedly. There were 4 people in lab coats talking about something in front of her, but she didn't understand them. " 你找到什么? (What did you find?)" The other man shook his head, "什么都没有(Nothing.)" Isla looked at Tsukasa, who was sitting on a chair , looking nervously at their friends passed out on some chairs. A black-haired man turned to Isla and asked, "What's your name?" "I-i..." Isla trembled slightly at the cold glance of the man. Isla gulped, " M-my name is I-isla." "Took you long enough, next time, answer straight away or something will happen to him." He motioned towards Tsukasa, whose eye's widened slightly as he tried to sink into his seat.

The scientist tapped something into the computer at his side while 2 others inspected Isla. Dr. Junko turned towards Dr. Katoki and asked, "You think we should...?" Dr. Katoki nodded without a moment's hesistation and answered, "Of course, we're doing this to save the planet!" Isla's head spun as she listened to the scientists. 'Save the Earth? Do what? What are they going to do?" Dr. Junko turned towards Isla and took out a needle from his pocket. He said softly, "Don't worry, this will hurt just a bit." He pushed the needle into the main vein on Isla's left hand and drew out a bit correction a lot of blood from her hand. Tears pricked up in Isla's blank eyes as she stared at the needle filling up with her blood.

Tsukasa bit his lip to stop himself from shouting at them and closed his eyes tightly, not wanting to see the scene before him. The scientist drew away from Isla and put the vial in some sort of machine. The others then gathered around the computer and discussed some more.

Hideki furrowed his brow as he listened to the conversation through the slightly open door. He had learnt 5 languages by the time he was 10 and translated what the scientists were saying with ease. He knew that one of them probably already knew that Hideki was listening to them. But if they did, they said nothing about it. 'Is that?' He stared at the red liquid in the machine and winced. 'That girl's blood? That's a lot!' He turned to another side and saw the guy sitting in a chair, staring right at him.

Hideki's eyes widened and Tsukasa tilted his head slightly to the side. Hideki smiled and held up his palm, trying to signal him to wait. Tsukasa apparently understood and nodded slightly. Hideki gave a pained smile and closed the door with a soft 'thud'. He ran back to his room, ignoring the shouts from the other scientists not to run. Thoughts raced through his mind as his brain whirred, thinking of a way to let the teens escape the horrible place. He smiled as he pulled open his room door and immediately sat at his table, scribbling ideas on a blank piece of paper, forgetting the 3 keys in his pocket.
