Sunpaw woke up, and looked around, surprised to find herself in a bed of leaves and bracken. Then the memories flooded back, and her paws tingled in excitement at the thought of the day before her. But then she thought about Jewel, and her ears drooped. Pushing the thought to the back of her mind, she padded outside to collide with her mentor, Sorrelclaw.
"Hey sleepy-slug! I was just about to tell you enough is enough!" She purred in greeting. Sunpaw crouched respectfully.
"Aw, none of that," Sorrelclaw playfully cuffed her over the ear. "You can relax around me!" Sunpaw purred hesitantly and followed her mentor over to a shaded spot by the thorn tunnel. Two cats were waiting there. One was a big grey tabby tom while the other, a dark black apprentice. The apprentice narrowed his eyes at her, before letting a smirk slip onto his face. Sunpaw stared back defiantly until Sorrelclaw spoke.
"This is Greypad, and his apprentice, Blackpaw," She meowed. "We are the hunting patrol, we hunt for the Clan first, and never eat until the queens and elders are already fed," She glared good-naturedly at Sunpaw. "Got that?"
Sunpaw nodded excitedly. They padded into the forest, and this time she was prepared for the tunnel's illusion.
