Shingeki no Kyojin

Chapter Ten

I make my way to the stables where my horse was but I remember I forgot my gear so I walk to my room and put on my gear. I walk back to my horse and get on her back. I wait for the mission to start. When it finally does we ride to where we were supposed to be when I get pulled to the side. "Yes?" "Be very careful Cadet I have a feeling something will not go according to plan" I nod and ride to catch up. Me, Armin, Eren, and Mikasa put on porter outfits and walked the rest on foot. Armin does all the talking while me, Mikasa, and Eren follow behind, staying quiet and calm. Soon we get to the area that leads underground. Annie seems to hesitate and that's enough for them. "Enough Annie, they know Armin figured it out and then I told them." "You are a traitor Kumi." The three of them look at me confused. "Annie shut up-" "Judging by their faces you haven't told them." "I SAID SHUT UP!" I slam my fist into her chest. She staggers back and then laughs.
"You- You have the audacity to laugh after everything you did!" "You have no room to talk Kumi! The death of the people of Shiganshina is on your hands!" "I was only twelve! I didn't understand! You have no right to bring it up! I'm trying to fix what I've done!" The three of them look at each other then to me "Kumi? What does she mean?" I shake my head "It's nothing- I... It's something I did before and regret..." They nod. "That doesn't change the fact that you have the blood of 250'250 people and Titans on your hands." I cover my ears hearing the screams of those people. "Shut up. Shut up! SHUT! UP!" I lunge at Annie and she grabs me slamming me to the ground. "Ungh!" I grunt in pain and swing a leg around kicking her in the face. Six men come out of hiding and tackle Annie. Annie struggles then me and Mikasa notices something and I grab Eren and cover him with my body as I yank him to safety Mikasa grabs Armin. I hear blood splatter on the walls and I take sharp breaths. I run ahead towards the people and I was almost there when my legs started to scream at me to stop. The injury I had suffered and hid was biting me in the ass. I stand under a particular spot and don't even notice the cracking and creaking until it's too late. A ton of rocks crashed on top of me and I was crushed from the waist down. I scream in pain. Eren runs up to me but I push him away when Annie's hand comes down the hole.
I get grabbed and the rubble falls off of me and my legs dangle limply. "I love you Eren." I say before Annie pulls her hand out the tunnel. I hear Eren scream and I look up at Annie. "Hope you're happy you little shit." I feel Annie's hand gradually tighten around me starting to crush me. "Ngh!" I hear a cracking sound as the ground is ripped open. I manage to look over and see Eren punch Annie in the face sending her back. When she fell I get sent flying and hit a wall. "Ungh!" I lay on the ground breathing heavily. I look down at my legs and try to move them. "Fuck- I can't just stay here..." I turn around to lay on my stomach and I start to crawl away. I make it to a wall and I sit there panting  I watch as Annie and Eren fight. I watch as the fight progresses and Annie falls onto a church. Wait! There's innocent people there! I try desperately to get up and walk but I can't because my legs are crushed and I don't even know if I can regenerate fast enough or at all. So I just sit there watching but when I see Annie and Eren fighting one on one. My eyes widened. "Come on Eren you got this." I watch as Annie manages to escape from Eren and run to the wall scaling it. I sigh and sit there feeling weak. I watch as they finally capture Annie and I let out a soft breath closing my eyes. I open my eyes and look around.
I try to move but I groan in pain. I see Eren and Hange run up to me. "Are you okay Kumi?!" "When Eren found you. Your legs were bleeding and all broken. He went berserk. Levi had to cut him out his Titan because he was breaking things all because of the state we found you in." I look at my legs. "Are they?" Hange shakes her head. "No, they're fine now, just really bruised. I'm guessing your regeneration kicked in and healed you but took a lot out of you." I sigh with relief. "I really messed up didn't I?" "No you didn't you just-" Hange looks like she's struggling to find the words when I hear Levi say. "You did mess up but who am I to contradict love?" I start to speak. "Your Captain, that's who I am. If something like this happens again I'll have no choice but to separate you two." "No! You can't do that!" I sit up panicked. I didn't like the idea of being away from him. I try to move my legs but it hurts too much and I remember. "Ymir and I had grown close since she saved me and I had grown to see her like a sister. I still remember the day she beat someone up because they made some crude comment about me. Then Historia came along and it felt like I was suddenly replaced. Maybe that was why I had taken a dislike to her..." I look at Levi with anger and sadness. "Why? Why do you seem so bent on making me suffer?! What is your problem with me?!" Levi looks away. "It's none of your business, just hurry up and regenerate so you won't be in here any longer." I sigh. "Eren Hange help me up please." They nod and help me sit up and get on either side of me. I stand up and look at my bandaged legs. "How bad was it?" Hange sighs. "It was so bad that even we were scared that your regeneration would not be able to help..." "Did I almost die?" Now Eren speaks. "Yes... When Annie tried crushing you she almost crushed some very vital organs." I look at the ground. Eren gently cups my chin in his hand. "Kumi, once you feel better we need to talk." My face flushes and I look at Hange who smiles and my face flushes even more. I lean on Hange and Eren for support as they help me walk to the mess hall.
