Chapter 8
Spar
Ang mata ko pa talaga ang mayabang, huh? Why doesn't he look in the mirror to find out whose eyes he was really talking about!
"Ikaw yata ang nag hamon ng away?" tanong sa akin ni Reon nang ikwento ko sakanya ang nangyari kahapon.
"Hindi ako mang hahamon ng away kung alam kong mapapatay ko lang siya," sagot ko at hinagis ang bola sa kanya.
He caught it, dribbled twice, then took a shot at the hoop. After grabbing the rebound, he threw the ball back to me. I caught it swiftly.
"Imposible namang siya? Ang liit-liit ng katawan noon!" he said in an incredulous tone.
I chuckled at the thought of what he must have looked like after our sparring. His lips and eyes might have been bloodied before we finished.
"Pakiramdam ko talaga ikaw," Nag tagal ang titig sa akin ni Reon.
"Hindi nga ako. Yes, I suggested we meet at the gym and spar, but he's the one who asked if I wanted a fight," I explained, responding to his mocking gaze.
"Sparring talaga ang napili mo? Kung basketball na lang para manonood ako,"
I smirked.
"Well then, watch. Come with me to the gym," I said.
"Ulol. Huwag na. Baka matalo ka, ako pa sisisihin mo." he chuckled, passing behind me to get some water.
I turned to him, arms crossed.
"Seriously? With his small frame and compared to my physique, he's no match for me! You should be telling him that," I boasted.
He looked at me while holding the tumbler. His curly hair was slightly damp from sweat. He wore a jersey with 'Chavez' on the back and the number seventeen.
"Kapag talaga ikaw pumunta sa condo ni Yael na puro bangas, tatawanan ka pa namin."
I shook my head and sat on the bench.
"As if I'd let him mess up my face. Maybe when pigs fly."
I wonder if he will show up.
If I find out that I'm heading to the gym and he doesn't show, he's in trouble with me. He better not back out because it will only annoy me more. He's the one who wanted this. And before he left, he even insulted me.
Go ahead, Ellis. Let's see about your arrogance.
No pretty boy will outshine me.
My cellphone suddenly vibrated, so I checked it. Leyla's text popped up.
Leyla:
Are you busy? Sasamahan na kita mag enroll ngayon.
Oo nga pala. Hindi ako nakapag-enroll kahapon dahil sa nangyari. After Ellis left, I went back to the restaurant to drop off Leyla at her house, and after that, I went home.
Ako:
I can't. I have something to do today, Leyla. Maybe next time. :D
Leyla:
Oh... So, you're busy? What are you doing? Maybe I can help.
I scratched my nape.
What could she help with if we're sparring with her friend? She might get mad if she finds out. I don't care, anyway. Her friend is the one who wanted this.
Ako:
Yes, I'm busy. Pupunta ako kay Daddy.
I lied. I couldn't tell her we were sparring with her friend, or I'd be in trouble.
