Christmas is just around the corner. What are you and your friend up to?

That was the text I sent to Ellis after coming home from our studio. We were just practicing for our gig because Christmas is near. We also have a lot of things going on at school. They even discussed the Christmas Party, I don't know if I can attend because I'm busy with our gig.

I looked at my phone screen again but Ellis didn't reply. Until I fell asleep waiting for his response.

When I woke up, I immediately checked for his reply but just like last night, there was none. He's probably just busy with school that's why he can't reply.

"Austin, may gagawin ka?" tawag sa akin ni Reon.

After waking up and waiting for Ellis' reply, I just got up and went out of the room to make breakfast. My hair was a mess as I was chopping tomatoes for the salad. My phone was on loudspeaker because of Reon's call.

"Pahinga natin, ah? Bakit?" ani ko.

Sumasakit na nga ang aking katawan dahil sa practice namin. Sabado ngayon at dalawang araw na lang, pasko na. Wala na rin kaming pasok. Ngayon na nga lang pahinga ko, mukhang madedelay pa.

"Nawawala stick ng drum ko. Wala akong gagamitin," wika niya sa kabilang linya.

"Baka nasa loob ng brief ko?" asar ko dahil pantanga ang tanong niya.

"Ang baho na n'yan." aniya.

"Ano nga'ng kailangan mo? Wala sa akin ang stick ng drum mo." sabi ko at nilagay ang hiniwang kamatis sa bowl.

"Samahan mo ako,"

"Where? To help you look for it? It's just in the studio. We practiced there yesterday, I'm sure you just left it there," I said as I sat on the high chair and started eating my salad.

I don't want a heavy breakfast today. I don't want to gain weight for Christmas. We have a gig and I'll be wearing a sando, I already have biceps and abs, so it's all good. But I still don't want to eat a lot. I'll just eat more after our gig.

"Wala talaga. Nag hahanap ako ngayon. Nasa studio ako. Ang nakita ko lang rito ay condom na gamit na," humalakhak siya.

Naubo ako roon.

"Tangina. Ang dugyot mo," ani ko. Why would there be a condom there?! Maybe Zede brought a girl there.

"Baka sa 'yo 'to?" alam kong nakangisi na ito ngayon.

"Hindi ako fan ng condom. Ayokong mag sayang ng anak. Si Zede ang mahilig d'yan. Takot 'yon, eh." ngumunguya kong sambit.

"Baka naman si Yael?" duda n'yang sabi.

"Baka naman ikaw?" balik ko dahil hindi malabo.

"Ulol. Baka nga gawin pa kitang ninong kapag nakabuntis ako. Sunduin kita d'yan sa unit mo. Samahan mo akong bumili ng stick ng drum."

Unimom ako ng tubig.

"Whatever," ani ko at pinatay ang tawag.

I continued eating and savored every bite. I had no plans today so even if I spent an hour eating here, it's fine.

I looked at my phone again, still waiting for Ellis' reply. My shoulders dropped when I saw that it was delivered but he just didn't read it. I typed another text.

Still no reply.
