"Are you getting tired of staying in one city?" Daario breathlessly asked as the duo circled each other, tactfully observing one another in the disguise of casual conversation after dueling for hours with tie.
Ardella smirked at the thought of how she is enjoying the queen's company without much time to be bored of their new city. "Not really. Are you?"
The sellsword glanced at the princess's hold of her sword's handle and charged with his crescent shaped weapon, aiming towards Ardella's left hand. But much to his surprise, instead of sidestepping to give him an opening, Ardella hit him with the hilt of her sword but not before Daario's blade grazed her arm.
He blinked in disbelief as he found himself on the ground after receiving forceful hit on his head while the princess smiles victoriously on top of him with the tip of her sword at his neck.
Daario chuckled with an admit of defeat and accepted Ardella's helpful hand to get up, "You are unbelievable. Do you realize I could have cut your arm clean?"
"I still would've won." Ardella said and unsheathed her sword. A thin layer of sweat covered her smiling face which is rare to be seen by the sellsword.
The duo sat on the stairs nearby to catch their breath. "I heard you despise your family. Why do you still wear it?" Daario pointed at Ardella's necklace before receiving the jug of water from her.
"I hate them but I don't hate who I am. Since the name is part of myself, I decided not to loathe it along with them."
Halting Daario's more questions related to her family, Ardella hid her necklace and asked instead, "Why are you getting tired of staying in Meereen?"
The sellsword yawned, "Well, I am only good at two things. War and women. Neither is here."
"There are thousands of women in Meereen."
"But the one I want doesn't want me." Daario pointed out which made the princess's face fall.
It doesn't make sense to feel apologetic towards him but since Ardella deems themselves somewhat of friends, she couldn't help but to resonate with his pain.
Observing her expression, Daario laughed lightheartedly and nudged her, "But the queen ordered me to go to Yunkai and retake the city with my Second Sons. Don't you worry about me. I will have plenty of men to slay there."
Ardella tried to hit him back playfully but winced a bit which made Daario to look at the wound that he inflicted, "You know, if you were a man, I wouldn't hesitate to cut my hand as well to become brothers by blood with you."
The princess looked at him with disgust, "Brothers by blood?"
"That's how we make blood oath to become brothers and vow to protect each other."
Ardella thought for a second and Daario's phrase "if you were a man" bothered her. "I will do it. But since I obviously don't need your protection, I will vow to protect the queen while you are away."
Daario's usually playful face turned serious as he put his blade on his arm before Ardella could protest, "I will vow the same."
The two similar cuts seem to make a crescent moon shape together, "Now we are brothers." Daario stared at their arms with a proud expression.
"I didn't mean to be brothers with you. I only vowed because I was already cut. You didn't had to nick yourself." Ardella said with disbelief.
