Just a little note before I start this chapter - I need some sort of conflict in this book or else it would be boring. I do not have any inside information and I do not actually know how any of these situations went down! Please remember that every character is my own interpretation and does not reflect on the real people they might be based on. <3

"Goddamnit. Why would she do that?"

Taylor was sitting cross legged on her couch in her pajamas with Tree on facetime. She could hear Tree frantically typing away on her laptop through the phone.

She had slept in late that day - the VMA's were the night before and she had slightly too much to drink between the awards ceremony and the afterparty. The article Tree had organized had been published that morning, along with a second surprise article with more details only someone close to the couple could know.

Taylor had picked up the phone call from her publicist right as she finished getting ready for an thankfully quiet day given how shitty she was feeling, and what Tree had to say was not making it any easier.

"She probably just wants to have some sort of control in the situation."

"How bad is it?"

Tree tried to put her mind to ease. "It really isn't that bad in the grand scheme of things. There wasn't anything new released, just that you saw each other in New York a couple weeks ago."

Taylor let out a heavy sigh. It's not that some big secret was spilled, but her bad feeling about the woman had been confirmed. Plus it was adding another level of complicated to add to the situation.

"How did you even find out it was her?"

"I didn't know the story was being published until right before. Thank god, she made sure it looked like it was coming from an outside source, but I have a contact that told me it actually was straight from his rep."

"How did she even get them to do that?" Taylor had more questions than Tree could answer.

"My best guess is that she promised them something down the line."

"How do we go about dealing with this?"

"Let's not do anything drastic. I'll sit down and talk with her about it; come up with a plan moving forward."

"I don't want to tell Travis yet. I need to protect us."

"That's your call to make."

It pained her to keep secrets from him, but she also didn't want to mess up what they had. It was too early, too fragile, too important for something like this to come between them.

"There's a few other things you should be aware of." Tree continued, "mainly that videos of you from last night are blowing up. Nothing bad, just dancing and stuff at the show but it is everywhere."

"Yeah, I figured, and I don't care." Although they hadn't explicitly talked about it, both women were aware of the camera aimed at Taylor every second of the award show the previous night.

There also wasn't much they could do at this point, and it was just some innocuous videos from a televised event. If people wanted to see her having fun, then they would.

"Great. Congrats again on your wins by the way."

Taylor smiled, happy to get her mind onto something else. She had a ton of fun the previous night and it had given her an opportunity to tell some of her close friends about her relationship before it went public. Both her and Travis had started to tell their close families, but other than her parents only Abigail knew about the relationship.

It seemed like there was nothing she could do at that point, so she said goodbye to Tree and hung up the phone, deciding to make some breakfast to distract herself from the whole conversation.
