Chapter 10: All My Ghosts

During the football season, Travis was stuck in Kansas City. As much as he wanted to fly to New York every free moment he had, he was forced to stay in touch with Taylor through texts and facetime calls until she had enough free time to come to him. This was exactly why he was so excited for her to finally return to Missouri and watch him play at Arrowhead stadium.

Travis: i can't wait to see you

Taylor: me either ❤️

Taylor: I'll be there tomorrow morning :)

Travis: I'm going on the Pat McAfee show today, and he's probably going to ask about us

This had become a common occurrence, for both Travis and Jason to be questioned incessantly about the younger brothers rumored relationship with global superstar Taylor Swift. In reality, he just wanted to make sure not to say too much before Taylor was ready and potentially push her away.

Travis: do you care what I say?

The two of them had multiple conversations about what they were willing to talk about at the given time, but Travis always made sure to check he wasn't overstepping.

Taylor: I mean they're going to find out when I show up to the game on sunday

Taylor: you can say that you invited me if you want

Travis: you sure?

Taylor: yep <3

And that was exactly what the athlete did when he was inevitably asked about the rumors during the sport podcast.

"You're gonna give me the floor?"

"The floor is yours!"

"I'll tell you what, it's hilarious how much traction this has actually gotten. Right now it's like this game in school called telephone, where everybody's just whispering in each other's ears. Hearing some random stuff. No one actually knows what's going on, especially when you've got Jason Kelce on live television, telling people just both sides. He doesn't know!"

Travis continued insulting his brother jokingly, before he was interrupted by Pat McAfee asking a question he knew was ridiculous.

"You hate that this is happening though?"

"No, I mean it's life baby! I threw it out there - I threw the ball in her court. I told her 'I've seen you rock the stage in arrowhead, and you might need to come see me rock the stage in arrowhead. And see which one is a little more lit.

He could see the other men's faces light up as they got the inside scoop.

"Well, we will see what happens in the near future." Travis ended his appearance with a smirk. He knew full well that only a few days later, she would be up in the suite watching him 'do his thing', but thought it would be best to leave a little bit of mystery to the whole thing.

He knew that Taylor was going to watch the clip and laugh at how he made it seem like they hadn't actually met yet, but really he was grateful the rest of the men were respectful of his boundaries. Plus it was fun to fuck with people.

The next morning, Travis was waiting anxiously for Taylor to make it from the small private airport in Kansas City to his house. Her security insisted they drive her to ensure there were no paparazzi waiting at the tarmac for sneaky pictures. The new ID code for her jet had yet to be discovered so she was able to travel without the world knowing.

Just like they had done on the past two visits, Travis was waiting for Taylor inside the garage. As soon as the car was stopped, he walked up to the back door and opened it, offering a hand to help Taylor out of the car.
