Delia woke up to her cuddling with Thomas underneath her sheets. She wrapped a blanket around herself and walked to the bathroom, closing the door behind her and sinking to the floor. What had she done. Did she really make out with her work partner? of 8 years? The one whos married (not happily) and has a daughter? Delia dropped her head into her knees and groaned.
After Delia had gotten up and picked some clothes out of her hamper, she went back to her room and plucked her phone off of her nightstand. She opened up her messages and saw a text from riggs."Steve connors called me this morning. No parent when interview. We need to talk."
Delia groaned again and put her phone back into her pants pocket. She walked back into the bedroom and threw a slipper at Thomas's head. He woke up with a startled grunt and looked at her angrily and sleepily. "We have to go talk to Riggs. Steve made a fuss about talking to his kid without him present." Delia explained. Thomas didn't say a word, he just dropped his face down into the pillow and let out a groan.
When the detectives made it to the precinct, they stood outside of Rigg's office waiting for him to motion them in. When he finally did, they sat down in the tension filled room. "Did you two go talk to the Connors kid?" Riggs asked after a few moments of silence. There was a pause, and as Delia opened her mouth to speak Thomas stepped in. "That was mainly my idea. I made Detective Coolman come with me as backup. Told her she owed me a favor." he said. Delia shut her mouth and sat back against the back of her seat. She would be more than happy to go with that. "As much as I'd love to believe that is true, you should NOT have interviewed that boy without his father present. This could cause serious problems throughout the department. And you two would be the cause of it." Riggs exploded. "There is a very important sixteen year old girl dead and this case is going cold. How many times do I have to say this? We're about to lose this case. So I need you two to stop fucking around and solve this damn case." He slammed his fist down on the desk. Delia gave a curt nod and stood up and walked out immediately. It scared her when her father got angry.
Delia sat down at her desk and pulled out Georgia's number. She dialed it into her phone and it rang a couple of times before Georgia's voice finally answered. "Hello?" she said wearily. Delia knitted her eyebrows together. "Hey Georgia. This is Detective Coolman. I just had a few follow up questions. Are your guardians around?" There was a pause on the other end of the line. "No they aren't, but I can answer your questions over the phone." she answered. Delia shook her head. "I'm sorry but since your not 18 yet I need your legal guardians permission." Another pause. "Is this about Bea?" Georgia said in a hushed voice. Delia paused this time. "Yes it is." she heard Georgia shuffle on the other side of the phone. "My parents would kill me if they found out I was gay. I can't talk about her infront of them." Delia chewed on her lip for a minute. "Okay. Well, you can come to the station and I can have my boss sit in on us while we talk. Is that okay?" There was a sound that sounded like a sigh of relief. "Yes, I can come in now." Delia nodded "Great. That'll be great. Yes." Georgia hung up the phone and Delia walked back up to Riggs's office. "Georgia Barnes is coming here to be interviewed. Her parents can't sit in because they don't know she's gay. So I told her you'd be in there." Riggs nodded and collected some files while Delia went back downstairs to prepare an interview room.
When Georgia arrived, she looked like a deer in headlights. She look terrified. Delia led her into the small interview room, where Riggs sat in the corner and two other officers stood on the other side of the two way mirror. Delia sat down in front of Georgia. "When we got the autopsy report back from the morgue, they found traces of semen in her. It could have been before or after the assault. That semen was sent to our lab and it was traced back to you. Now is your opportunity to tell us why it did." Delia explained calmly. Georgia's face got red and she looked down at her knees and started fidgeting with her hands. "I slept with Bea a couple nights before she went missing. Saturday night. I came over and we got drunk. She finally caved into the idea of us finally being together, and we slept together. But I hadn't seen her since then. When she sobered up Sunday morning she kicked me out when she realized." Georgia spilled. Delia glanced at Riggs who was sitting leaned forward with his hands clasped in front of him. Delia looked back at Georgia and nodded. "We'll be back. Thank you."
Delia pulled riggs outside the door, noticing the two cops, who were watching, whisper to each other. "This is pretty big. She could be our suspect but she could also know our suspect." Delia muttered. Riggs nodded. His eyebrows were knitted together and he was chewing on his lip. They shared similar habits. "I think you ought to find out who that secretary was." Riggs nodded and Delia sucked in her lips. "I'll try to see if Steve is calm enough to come talk to us and maybe even bring Brock in." Delia nodded. "Sounds good. I'll call the Senators receptionist and ask if we can get the secretary's number. Or maybe a meeting." Delia shrugged. Riggs nodded and gave her a thumbs up before skulking away back to his office.
