Delia tried to push her self back away from Georgia. "You know, I tried to play it off as best as I could when you guys came to talk to me about how you found a sample of my semen. And I was pretty positive it worked too." Georgia started explaining as she paced in front of Delia. "It did. You weren't even on our list of suspects." Delia choked out. "Shut up. I'm speaking." Georgia kicked Delia's leg and she let out a grunt of pain. "I know that it worked. Because there was no evidence other than that pointing to me. But the fact that you just thought that it was normal? What kind of detectives are you?" Georgia let out a maniacal giggle. "I mean, I literally 'slept' with her before she was murdered and I'm the last person you suspect?" Delia moved her head to the side, hoping to catch a glimpse down the hallway or through the window. She saw Thomas crouched down, peeking around the corner with his gun drawn. They made eye contact and he raised his finger to his lips. Delia turned her head back to where it was and closed her eyes.
"But I'll let you in on a little secret." Georgia knelt down next to Delia's head, her backside facing the hallway Thomas was in. Georgia brushed the gun up and down Delia's cheek, catching the tears that were falling down her face. "I didn't kill Beatrice. That was her mother. But I did rape her." Georgia's eyes were dark and cold. There was no regret in them. "And I enjoyed it." Georgia whispered in Delia's ear. Delia closed her eyes and a sob racked her body. Georgia stood back up and that was when Thomas made his presence known. "Georgia Barnes. Put the gun down." Georgia turned around to see Thomas and a full squad behind him. Georgia raised her gun at them. "You're not taking me alive." She said simply. Thomas raised his gun in return and so did the rest of the squad. "Put the gun down and nobody has to get hurt." Thomas said softly. Georgia shook her head. "No. There's no way out of this for me." She turned the gun toward herself and pulled the trigger. Thomas turned his head and Delia let out a scream.
All Delia could remember after that was trip in and out of the ambulance. She passed out due to blood loss soon after entering the hospital. Doctors told Thomas she was in critical condition, but that she would live if surgery went well. Thomas paced the waiting room for the next hour and half. When the doctor finally came back, he was told that only immediate family would be able to see her. "I'm her partner." Thomas said firmly. "I'm sorry. But unless you're married to her or related to her we can't let you see her right now." The doctor gave Thomas a sympathetic smile. "I'm her father, I need to see her." Thundered a voice from behind them. Thomas turned around to see Riggs standing there, his hair messy and his expression distraught. Thomas raised his eyebrows and looked back at the doctor and then back at Riggs. "Right this way sir." The doctor ushered Riggs through the double doors and as he passed Thomas he put his hand on his shoulder. "Let me speak with her first." Thomas nodded silently.
When Riggs entered the tiny hospital room, he startled Delia awake. "Hey sweetie." He said quietly, standing by the door awkwardly. "Daddy." Delia croaked, her voice breaking. Riggs rushed to her side and laid his head near hers, wrapping his arms in hers. "It's alright honey, It's okay. I'm right here, okay?" He whispered, stroking her arms. "Did they arrest the senator yet?" Delia asked softly. "Yes they did. A little while after you were admitted into surgery. I arrested her myself." Riggs' voice was rough. Delia's body started shaking with sobs. "I couldn't stop her. I didn't even think she would turn the gun around on herself." She gasped, talking about Georgia. "It's not your fault, that was a decision that she had made. She didn't want to face the consequences." Riggs stroked Delia's hair from her face and wiped the tears off her cheeks. Delia nodded and then shook her head. "Is the case closed now?" She asked. Riggs nodded his head "Almost baby. And then I'll get you your papers so that you can retire from this hell. I think I'll be retiring with ya." He whispered. Delia sobbed harder. "I wanna see Thomas."
When Thomas stepped into the room he all but threw himself onto Delia. "Jesus Christ you're okay." He said, his face buried into her shoulder. Delia wrapped her arms around him and laughed. "I'm still kicking." Thomas lifted his head, looking into her eyes for a moment before planting a kiss on her lips. "Thank god." He laughed and returned his head back into her shoulder.
