A/N: I would like to acknowledge a plothole I made. The Einzbern castle in Fuyuki was built during the Fourth Holy Grail War. However, I would like to make it clear that in this fanfiction, Einzbern Castle was built alongside the holy grail system, placing it in the First Holy Grail War. Anyway, enjoy the Chapter.

December 19th, outskirts of Fuyuki City, 1943
I looked at the map in my hand. It was difficult for me to get a hold of the map. It was buried under mountains of files in the Castle archives. Sylph helped me of course. The map led me to the forest entrance leading to Fuyuki castle.
A few soldiers followed behind us. They were bodyguards that Captain Diedrich had assigned us. He had taught them simple magecraft, but the most impressive feat was their weapons. The guns were able to tear through a mage's magic. However, the devices had little effect on most machines of warfare.
The rest of the battalion was with Diedrich, a fourth-generation mage, who led it. He was negotiating his way through the city with the imperial army. In the other cities we went through, we had to go through the rotations of the army nightly patrols. As to not cause a stir.
As we entered the forest, we could hear the song of an owl nearby. The large veins of roots that grew along the dirt and each crunch of a leaf and snow were foreboding. The canopies gave an immense darkness all around. The occasional pile of snow that fell was always a fright. The woods extended deep and seemed to go on forever.
We walked cautiously. We were unsure if there were traps in the darkness. The crunching of leaves from each of the steps made it harder to distinguish. The pure white along the ground made it even more difficult. The darkness was only illuminated by a single light. It was a flame that hovered around a led the way.
Then the sounds of the owl's song had stopped. The soldiers froze. We all could sense a presence. I was nervous enough to materialize Storch Ritter and Zähre. There was crunching and clicking in the darkness. Faint glows of blue could be seen.
"
"I feel the presence of spirits." Phaloes changed to a bright white and illuminated the darkness.
Some spirits were wolf-like and others that bird-like. They all emitted a blue aura. They had surrounded us.
"What should we do?" asked Sylph.
The soldiers were nervous. They looked ready to pull their triggers. "Ready, aim-
"-w-w-w-Wait!" I said. I had my hands up to protect the spirits. "They can be tamed."
I remember a bit about the spirits in the old castle. They responded to an Einzbern's commands if that Einzbern was strong in magecraft.
The soldiers didn't drop their guns. "If this fails, we shoot."
Sylph was concerned and touched my shoulder but I eased her worries with a smile.
I walked up to a wolf spirit, one with a distinct red eye. It began to bare its teeth at me. Then as I approached further, it barked and growled at me. The wolf was defensive and on edge. As I took another step forward, it happened.
The wolf lunged at me, but I quickly dodged. The soldiers pointed their guns at the wolf. In an instant, I used wire to pin the wolf and placed my hand on it. I eased the tension with a motion of my hand.
"Stop and let all soldiers through," I commanded to the wolf. I released the wolf. It howled and then all the spirits disappeared into the forest.
"You never fail to impress, Commander Einzbern." one soldier had respect for me.
