Chapter 12: Enemies

Early July, Frankfurt, Germany 1944

Lancer and Avenger had awoken me. It was now daytime and the train had stopped. I assumed it was our stop. I was correct in this assumption because it was indeed Frankfurt. I stepped off the train with the rest of the masters and servants.

A few hours later...

We had established a small base in Frankfurt. It was a small house. Small enough to house three people in each room and a basement. The basement was the war room. The supplies we had were fresh Japanese cuisine.

Now the reason for our infiltration. We had intel from an unknown source, that EInzbern has begun to rise in the ranks of the German army. That was all we knew. No other info. Frank and I were the only ones in the group who knew how to get inside EInzbern Castle. Frank prepared our journey into the mountains with camping gear and guns. It was near evening when this happened.

"Y-y-y--y/N how can we defeat Einzbern?"

"Don't worry Me and Frank have done it before," I said with confidence.

"Do you plan to kill her?"

I thought of the man in my dreams. He was cruel. I felt a sour taste in my mouth just thinking of that possible future. Then I thought of my Ancestor., a man who took a deal that would affect generations to seek his goal. Why would he seek such power?

To kill a foe that wronged him.

I thought about it more.

"No, I don't plan to kill her. Only her servant."

"What if we see Tohsaka again? Will you take his life?" I could tell she had some fear in her. She was afraid of me.

I had shown too much prowess during our time together.

"No," I said. "If your sister is there, I expect you to make her come to her senses."

A tear ran down the woman's face. She was distressed by the thought of her sister. Saber went up to her. Saber offered Aliisa a blanket.

"You know what always cheers me up? Udon!" Saber went into the cupboards and reached for some udon noodles.

"S-s-s-saber you don't have to"

"I want to see a smile on my master's face before a journey. You gotta live your moment before it fades."

There was silence.

"What is it, Saber?"

"I can't cook for my life."

Frank walked in with all the ingredients for a Udon bowl " I got this."

After a few minutes, everyone dug into their bowls. Aliisa's mood improved significantly.

"You're right Saber this is amazing," she was content.

I do enjoy these moments.

I approached the mountain that housed EInzbern castle. It was fortified to the core with soldiers and heavy artillery. I sensed the presence of a bounded field. However, I felt many spirits in the forest. The main road that led to the castle was the only place that was open to the military. It was obvious this mountain was the mage's fort. The presence of the mage was exuding like a firework from the top of the mountain. And I was about to break in.
