chapter four

"Cassia" he spoke, a smile on his face. When she looked into his eyes she could see his playfulness and desire to tease her once more. "What brings you here?" He approached them, only stopping when the peacekeepers held onto their weapons tighter.

"We need to interview Mags for a project" she explained, Finnick cast his eyes over both girls in front of him. He nodded ever so slightly, looking Cassia directly in the eye.

"Well then, I suggest you let me take you over, Mags will not take kindly to a crowd of Peacekeepers at her door" Finnick folded his arms, the peacekeepers rescinded, allowing him to move closer to her. "I'll take that as a yes" he smirked slightly, leaning in closer to her. "And later I can fulfill that promise" he whispered, Cassia felt a thick blush form on her cheeks. Jade laughed, and nudged Cassia. This snapped her out of whatever trance she'd been in. "Follow me" Finnick smirked and led them toward Mags' house.

The Village consisted of box houses that looked exceptionally modern, they were covered in windows and seemed very open and airy, the beach ran along behind them, acting like a backyard.

When Finnick knocked, Mags came to the door and said something that Cassia couldn't make out. But Finnick understood, they were going to need Finnick to translate for them too. Finnick looked back at their confused faces

"Oh, right...I'll stay then, translate" he nodded, Cassia smiled as did Jade, their way of thanking him. He beckoned them inside, the two girls walked in. Peacekeepers remaining stationed outside. Mags said something that Cassia once again couldn't decipher. "What do you need to know?" Finnick asked them, they looked at each other.

"What do you remember about the tenth hunger games?" Cassia asked, Mags shivered, she looked scared before speaking,

"No ones supposed to talk about them" Finnick translated, "but you're Snow's granddaughter so I think you can know" Cassia and Jade were both ready to make notes, "they were won by a girl from twelve, I can't remember her name. They introduced mentors that year, if I remember correctly your grandfather was one. The games became more popular that year, after that, they changed forever. As far as I know, your grandfather was a huge part of that" Cassia felt her eyes widen,

"How were there mentors from the Capitol?" Jade questioned, both girls felt incredibly confused, Finnick looked confused too. Mags answered their question and they both looked to Finnick for a translation

"It was a new thing, a new idea. They thought it would make the games better. Smart Capitol students were chosen, they did this again in my games but they... changed a lot more for them" Cassia nodded, and thanked Mags. "You're welcome" The elderly woman offered her a small smile.

Jade claimed to need the bathroom and was shown where it was by Mags, but Cassia was convinced Jade was deliberately leaving her alone with Finnick.

"Come on, let me show you the beach" he flashed her a flirtatious smile, she tried to conceal the blush that was on her cheeks.

"But the Peacekeepers...." She protested, if he was caught taking her off somewhere who knows what would happen.

"Come on, I pinky promised, I kinda have to take you" a pleading look formed on his face, "pretty please?" She rolled her eyes

"Fine! But make it quick" he beckoned for her to follow him and they excited the house through the back sliding door, there was a patch of greenery which he paid no attention to and just made his way to a stone staircase, Cassia smiled slightly. The beach was in full view. It was beautiful. Realising how far behind she was, Cassia picked up her pace and hurried after Finnick. When they reached the sand, he kicked off his shoes and smiled as his feet became immersed in the golden blanket.
