Jade Dovecote. Jade had been Cassia's best friend ever since she could remember. Probably since birth. Jades family were really powerful in the Capitol. Her great aunt had been close with Cassias grandfather in their youth, she'd guessed that's why they were such close friends."Oh Cass! How was your birthday!" The dark haired girl had hooded narrow eyes, she was also slender and relatively tall.
"It was good, but something really strange happened last night" she explained as the two walked through the corridor, arm in arm. Jade looked back at her confused,
"What happened?" Jade questioned, looking concerned for her friend.
"Remember my old crush?" Jade laughed slightly, "the celebrity one" she laughed once more.
"Oh of course, to be fair though I think most of the country shared in that crush" Cassia chuckled and nodded,
"Well, he was in my room last night" Jade's eyes widened, shock clear.
"What, why?" Cassia hurriedly whispered the rest of the story to her best friend, who tried to keep a neutral reaction. "That's insane" Jade commented as they moved into their home room and took their seats.
"I know" Cassia replied, placing her bag on the floor by her desk, Jade sighed, taking Cassia's hand.
"Look whatever you do next, however you react. Whatever you do, I will always love you" Jade smiled, Cassia returned the smile and rested her head on her best friend's shoulder.
"I love you so much Jay" she whispered, the two remained like that until their teacher entered the room. Professor Lucian Gaul was her homeroom teacher and also taught them about the logistics of the Hunger Games, he also taught some of Hunger Games History. Gaul used to be Head GameMaker so they let him teach whatever he wanted, they wanted him to stay at the Academy as long as possible. He was an ageing man, his grandmother had been one of the first ever GameMakers. Volumnia Gaul, a woman her grandfather often spoke about in the highest regard.
"All your bright faces, makes me sick" he complained, the class all laughed. They all knew he only stayed for the pay check. "Alright, you all have projects due soon yes?" The class all nodded, "then do them" They all began working on their projects and continuing their work.
Cassia and Jade had to write a report and produce a presentation about why the Hunger Games changed from throwing children into a colosseum style arena to a spectacle. It changed after the tenth games, the only problem was, there was no information about the tenth hunger games. The eleventh hunger games saw the introduction of the prizes and victory tour. It was when the Hunger Games became about pride, but the girls needed to find out why.
"If all information is gone, surely we have to ask someone who was alive at the time?" Jade commented, Cassia nodded.
"My grandfather won't tell us, if all the information is gone he's probably the one who banned it..." Jade nodded at Cassia's deduction, "wait... Mags Flanagan won the eleventh right?" Jade checked her notes before nodding. "What if we ask her?"
"You want us to travel all the way to district four for this project?" Cassia shrugged,
"Why not, might be fun" Cassia smiled, Jade smiled too, this could be a fun adventure.
"We'd have to get your grandads permission" Cassia sighed,
"He'd probably say yes" Jade nodded slightly, looking at her best friend,
"So, when are we going?" The dark haired woman smirked, Cassia smiled back at her,
"How about tomorrow?" Both their smiles grew, tomorrow would be fun
