Cassie froze. Fear consuming her.
"What are you watching?" Her grandfather seethed, she turned around to face him. A creative lie forming in her head,
"I simply wanted to understand better why these games aren't shown... I understand now" she answered, her grandfather looked interested at her response.
"What have you learnt?" He asked, folding his arms slightly, another lie needed to be prepared,
"That the districts will always choose to try and destroy our beloved Capitol. And that, we're all capable of cruelty and atrocities when it comes to it, what happened to that girl at the zoo... she brought it upon herself. Everything we get, we deserve. The districts deserve the horror of the games because of their uprising" Snow smiled, he seemed satisfied with her response, he nodded.
"Very good dear, up to bed now. You have school tomorrow" she nodded, her grandfather watched her leave. Cassia breathed a sigh of relief as she walked back to her room. Taking comfort in the fact she'd lied her way out of a potentially deadly situation.
The next morning, Cassia awoke to Priscilla opening her doors.
"Rise and shine Miss Snow!!" Priscilla expressed, smiling broadly. Groaning, she pushed herself up. "Oh it's a beautiful day!" The curtains drew back automatically allowing Cassia a view of the Capitol. Sometimes she could appreciate the beauty of the city. "You have school and no activities after today" she nodded and Priscilla left her to her own devices. Sighing, the teenager slid out of bed and got into her uniform, opting for the dress today.
Her grandfather wasn't at breakfast that day, neither was her brother. So, Cassia ate alone.
Before long, she was walking to meet Jade in the corridor. They walked in silence to homeroom, starting their project straight away.
"So what's the plan for Sunday?" Gracelynn asked as they all sat down for lunch, the group all looked at her,
"Meeting at Luxury Diner at one" Jade explained, Jace nodded in response. Haylo and Prince agreed.
"So, how was four guys! Did you see any hot victors!" Haylo exclaimed, excitement in his voice. Cassia and Jade laughed slightly,
"Well we did run into a certain hot youngest Victor" Gracelynn squealed with joy,
"Oh you met Finnick Odair! Lucky bitches!! Oh do you think he'll be at the gala tomorrow? He has to be right, victors are often invited!" The red head explained, Gracelynn was a short girl whose face was coated in freckles. The boys laughed,
"Please Grace, like you stand a chance with Finnick Odair" Haylo laughed, he had dark skin and even darker eyes, he wore his hair in braids all the time. He always wore gold eyeliner too.
"Yeah, Cassia has the best chance with him" Prince stated, his dyed blue hair reached his shoulders and matched his eye colour. He had tanned skin that looked perfectly sun kissed. Her eyes widened in shock,
"Jeez Prince. What makes you see that?" She laughed, some of her friends scoffed.
"Cassia... you are a Snow. Anything you want you get. If you wanted to date Finnick Odair, you could" she looked down, they were right, she could get anything she wanted. But she knew that the laws regarding Capitol district relationships applied to her nonetheless. They weren't allowed.
"Yeah sure" she tried to sound like she wasn't being sarcastic, only Jade caught her facade.
"Well, I personally think Gloss is way hotter than Finnick" Prince expressed, "as is Cashmere" the group laughed, "they have good genes" the group once again laughed, Cassia decided she had to tell Cashmere about this the next time they spoke. Cassia had a sort of friendship with Cashmere and Gloss, and Enobaria for that matter, they always treated her with respect and kindness, and they made an effort to talk to her at events. Due to this, she'd become quite close with all of them.
