CHAPTER 5: WATERFALLS
I slowly open my eyes, the morning light pierces through the curtains, intensifying the throbbing pain in my head. The room spins slightly as I attempt to sit up, greeted by the unmistakable discomfort of a hangover. My bedroom feels both familiar. I'm home?
shit!
ang sakit ng ulo ko! damn it!
I looked at the wall clock near the door, it's already morning. napahilamos na lamang ako ng mukha. I'm still wearing my clothes. Groaning, I peeled myself from the bed, regret coursing through my veins along with the remnants of last night's indulgence. Stumbling to the bathroom. The mirror reflected a disheveled version of me, prompting a decision to tidy up. After that I went inside, shower to chill up.
Running a towel through my wet hair, and I felt a cascade of droplets onto the bathroom floor. My reflection in the mirror hinted at the aftermath of sleep, prompting me to reach for the toothpaste and toothbrush. As I mechanically brushed away the residue of last night's sleep, I added splashes of water to my face, watching as the sleep-induced grogginess slowly gave way to a more awake version of myself. The mirror became a canvas for morning transformation, one splash at a time.
A brisk shower later, I emerged feeling somewhat human, I felt so sticky kanina. After ko maligo ay tumungo na ako sa dressing room ko to change. My wardrobe, a blurry array of colors, demanded minimal decision-making. Opting for simplicity, I grabbed a plain white t-shirt and a pair of worn-in denim shorts, a modest attempt at salvaging the morning after a night I barely remembered.
Matapos ng rituwal ko sa umaga ay napagdesisyunan ko na bumaba, i got hungry. I didn't check my phone. Paniguradong wala naman bago. And maybe my jerk ex still texting me on my socmed.
THE DESCENT DOWN THE CREAKING STAIRS echoed in the large, silent living room. The morning sun painted a soft glow on the empty spaces, walang tao sa sala, madalas ko maabutan jan si Daddy, but now he's not there, indicating that Dad had already headed to work. As I reached the bottom of the stairs, a flicker of confusion crossed my mind - how did I even get home last night? pala?
Searching for answers, I went to the drawer. I opened the drawer where we usually kept the car keys, hoping for a memory trigger. The metal clinks echoed in the stillness, but the familiar jingle of keys eluded me. Panic edged in as I realized my key wasn't where it should be. Mga susi ng kotse ito ni Mommy at Daddy.
Approaching the kitchen, the aroma of breakfast greeted me, but I couldn't focus on the enticing smell.
"Mom," I called out."Where's my keys?"
"Too early for that."
Gulat akong nahinto sa kinatatayuan ko ngayon. Am I dreaming or am I just misheard? boses yun ni Kleya...mula sa likod ko.
No it's imposible!
I turn around, feeling a sudden chill down my spine. As I glance over my shoulder, my eyes widen in surprise. There she is-Kleya. Her presence is almost surreal, and for a moment, I'm at a loss for words. She's wearing my pink t-shirt, the color complimenting her radiant aura. Her angelic face seems to glow, and I can't help but be captivated by the way she effortlessly pulls off the casual look. Time seems to pause as our eyes meet, and I can't shake the shock that tingles through me. Naguguluhan ako! why she's here! and she's wearing my shirt???
